I'm back, after about 3-4 weeks. I didn't post alot earlier, but I still visited here regularly, almost daily. Here is my story:

I live at the dorm, 10-20 minutes from my house. I'm on a wireless network. After my easter/spring break, which was 5 days (like a month ago...), I came back and my internet shut down after about 4 minutes. It said I was connected, but it would'nt let me access anything. I tried re-connecting over and over, but even if it did connect, I still couldn't visit any websites. I put up with this for about 4 days, finally bringing my computer to my house, calling to have someone check the hardware, because the light for the network card wasn't coming on. It turned out that I had to be "at" my wireless location and run a check on my computer just to let them look at my computer, their policy. And I had to use the instructions they e-mailed me to run this check...however I had no internet to get the e-mail. I could have printed it out, but there wasnt really a working printer at my house at the time. Turned into this huge hassle.

Also, my dad set up a wireless network at my house, just so he could test out the card, turned out that it wasn't the card. That meant 2 things:
- I was wrong, it wasn't a hardware problem
- The school was blocking me somehow

My dad visited my dorm once, he couldn't figure it out. I called tech support at least 2x by the time I brought the computer to my house, they didn't respond. (tech support is student-run, like a class...which means that tech support is basically lazy) 2 weeks after the problem existed, I brought my mom's laptop, the exact same model as mine, to the dorm, to use as my internet connection. I had gone through many hassles to get internet resources, including saving them on flash drives, going from computer to computer, to get a 9-page paper done in basically one day, not to mention some other papers. The next week, tech support finally came. They looked at the computer, it wasn't working (surprise surprise) They did everything I'd tried, plus or minus one or two things, but still nothing worked. They told me that it must be the location, because of a "connection hub thingy above my dorm room" that made the signal not so strong.
When they said this, I was mad for 2 reasions:
-my mom's computer was accessing the internet right there in front of them, with a webpage up
-I had tried the broken computer right next to the wireless hub, in the middle of the building, not to mention other rooms in the building. It still hadn't worked.

I brought up the second reason, because they said "if you go somewhere else in the building, it will work." THey said they'd research the problem, get back to me in a day or two. I called 3-5 times in the next 2-3 weeks, and finally someone called me back, saying "when will you be available tommorrow, so I can look at it." I didn't have time that next day, so I never called back. Also, I had only one week left in school, what was the point? The following friday (the next day), I came back after spending time with friends to find that norton antivirus had been run on both computers, showing no viruses on them. Nice to know that privacy is important. I never heard from anyone about the matter again.

Throughout this internetless month, It turned out that alot of people were having internet problems. People next door couldn't connect either, apparently about 7 some odd other people in the building had the same problem as me. And it was slow for everyone else.

Basically, I went through hassle after hassle, for papers, for other stuff, writing e-mails, etc. My mom's computer, which I had borrowed, began to show similar connectivity problems after a week. I got to the point where her computer would only be online for about 6-12 hours every other day. It got annoying, especially when I had to write papers, use the internet for research, etc. I never had an opportunity to post here [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif].

But now I'm back, for the summer. I even, sadly, re-signed up for SWG.

In other news, I got a girlfriend 2 weeks ago, first one basically...since elementary school. And I'm going to Kansas in 2 days. Good stuff.

Elementary school girlfriends are awesome.

"Hi."
"Hi."
*thirty minute long awkward silence*
"Recess is over."
"Yeah."
"bye."
"Bye."

Rinse, lather, and repeat.

Well welcome back to the fold [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif].

Let this be a prime example to others that Massassi is inescapable and (in this lost soul's case) a "longing desire to return" to Massassi was,as such, inevitable... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
