I bought World of Warcraft a few days ago. I'm on Uther server and have a level 15 Warlock. About the game? Eh, it's ok, not the greatest in my opinion. I grew up with EverQuest, and probally why I'm not too excited about it...probally because everything looks like cartoon characters, and the spells are very, very limited.

I don't know if this kind of thread has been posted before, but vote on which MMORPG you like best.

I like Guild Wars over wow mainly because the graphic style is more appealing to me, and I personally like capture the flag ISH pvp rather than the WoW style PvP. That and the cartoon feel of wow drove me nuts after 2 months.

Well Anovis, I have quite a few alliance chars on the Uther server as well so if you're on alliance and need a guild, feel free to send any of my chars (Melinda, Nykita, or Janella) a tell or mail if interested :)

I added Asheron's Call to the list, and voted for WoW.

+1 for FFXI.

FFXI for the win.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

A vote for EQ1 from me, but EverQuest and EQ2 should be seperate; there's nothing similar about them except their name.

My second choice would be JK.

I voted for AC cause it is one of my most favorite games, and I got started MMOing with it, and I will be pre-ording the Expansion or asking my mom for it. And I have played WoW and I loved it. But I still think AC has better features. Check out the EBGames customer reviews for reasons why.

I did consider putting Ashren's Call on there, and I suppose I should have. But it's kinda too late now I suppose. AC was a good game too :)

EQI and II are different, but the feel/spells/race/classes are the same so I put them as one...but you're right, it should be sepereate.

AC 1 and 2 are extremely different from eachother as well. Maybe MMO sequels differ from the original substantially so that they can draw in a new playerbase rather than cannibalizing the original game's (assuming it's still live after the sequel goes gold).

I've played WoW, SB, E&B, Tale in the Desert 1 and 2, SWG, CoH, AC, AC2 and UO. I've played Guild Wars as well, but that's not an MMORPG. None of them felt like home like AC does (probably because it was my first).

I wont be taking MMOs seriously until there's a serious RPG MMO out there. Maybe when NWN grows some gaming testicles and some graphics I'll get really into RPGs like I thought I would with NWN.

AC, definitely. After playing AC, AC2, DAOC, SB, SWG, Horizons, WoW, MxO, and I know I'm missing something, but anyway I still liked AC the best.

And that's a newer Hoary, blah. =P

What's a Mattekar doing in a swamp?

They totally screwed up spawns... took all the realism out of it.... Then again I suppose there's nothing real about being attacked by polygons in the first place.

The miss the gold ol' AC days. Certainly more fun than any fun i've ever had in any other MMORPG. Infact, no other MMORPG has even come close.

Then it's official? AC wins?
2005-06-07, 7:45 PM #20
That screen is taken right outside of Kara. I'm glad you're picking on the mattekar, I thought you'd have some comment on the fact I had a fenmalain key hotkeyed at the time. :P

That's not a swamp, n00b. Swamps looked a lot different than that. That was just a river. =P

you have options to take out action bars, but I'm 100% behind you on that...games lose it's artistic feel when they are covered with menu's. Probally the reason why I have HUD turned off if possible, until I want to talk (can't do this in WoW of course...)

FFXI seems cool, but get this everybody: I never really got into later FF games (Final Fantasy 7 all the way to 10 kinda were blah IMO)
2005-06-07, 10:43 PM #27
Well I haven't really played any other MMORPGs....so AC would have to be it.

But regardless, I don't think I could have as much fun with any other MMO as AC simply because all my old pals aren't playing the same one.

Just got back into AC to.

Connection Problem has a lot of item bars open that the large majority of players would not have. Most players would have the first a second rows down the bottom of the screen, and that's it. He's also running a 3rd party ap which gives him the bar at the top, most of the icons around the mini-map, and the extended info on his character. WoW is great in that the interface is ultra-customisable.

I've never played them at all until after I played FFXI. FFXI is a totally different game, just based in the FF universe. It kinda draws from all the games.

It may look kind of cluttered because I've zoomed in to show off my toon :P This is what it looks like normally when I play.

If I wanted, I could make all those bars invisible and just use hotkeys (I rarely click the buttons anyways) but at that resolution I can see the world just fine. I'm not very good at organizing, but the stuff near the center of the screen is there for a reason - it gets used in twitchy combat.

You can do ANYTHING with the WOW interface. It can look literally however you want.
