Movie Talk: Cinderella Man & Lords of Dogtown

I went to see Cinderella Man the night before last, and saw Lords of Dogtown last night.

Cinderella Man:

Very good movie. Like Rocky, except more believable and better drama. Really good storyline and really good message behind it all. I plan to buy this when it comes out.

Lords of Dogtown:

This was pretty good as well. I liked it, but then again, I used to be a skater. I'm not sure how this movie would appeal to those that are not very interested in the sport. Although it has less to do with skating and more to do with friendship, fame, and juvenile mischief. It centers around skating, but it doesn't really go into it that deeply.

Cinderella Man is a remake of Raging Bull, for your information.

I really liked Lords of Dogtown, despite telling myself I would not see it. It's less about skating and more about a good story like the person above me stated.

I wanna see lords of dogtown and that other one with adam sandler and the prison football game.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

The Longest Yard. Yeah, I recently saw that as well, and liked it. It wasn't the best movie in the world, by far, but it was pretty entertaining. A lot of funny bits too.

Also a remake. From the 70s, with Burt Reynolds being the main character, it was in England with soccer I believe. Just FYI again. A rather good movie, the remake that is, I haven't seen the original. Quite funny, up to par with Adam Sandler's other regulars like Big Daddy. Not up to the Happy Madison quality though.

I personally, really don't like Adam Sandler's style of humor or his movies. I think the guy's really quite irritating - not as bad as Jim Carrey though, I haven't met someone that quite tops him yet.

Jim Carrey is probably the funniest guy ever along with Will Farrell.

The original Longest Yard was a football (not soccer) movie too. I liked the new one too, as it was pretty entertaining. Could have used mroe Chris Rock though.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Cinderella Man, and I'll probably check out Lord of Dogtown as well.

Actually its kind of the complete opposite, the only thing they have in common is the boxing aspect of it. We're made to really dislike LaMotta in RB, in CM we're made to really like Braddock.

I liked both RB and CM, and its weird because I never used to be a fan of boxing films (save Rocky) until Million Dollar Baby got me back into the mix. CM was good movie, I wasn't really into it until the Baer fight, and even though I knew who was going to win I was still pretty on edge for most the fight.

Jim Carey on the show "In Living Colour" (early 90s) is HILAROUS!

I love one character where he is a psycho "fire marshall"

, and he has his neck in that super tight way where you can see all his neck veins, and he'll barge into someones house or something and be like:

"LET ME TELL YA SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" in a super loud and fast voice which CRACKS me up hardcore!

Then he'll start going "now, you're about to ENNNJOY this lovely bottle of bubbly, when you soon discover that is it in fact SULFURIC ACID!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then he'll drink the acid while his face is half gone. *dies laughing* Ater that he'll slam his hand in a door or something and say something else hilarous... Oh man... LOL.

Yeah! :)

He's the only character that comes close to Peter Griffen IMO.

I loved how he alway on fire or something too and he'd be all like: "I've been on fire so many times I don't even feel it anymore, in fact, I kinda enjoy it" Hahhahahaah,
