Chinese/Japenese Tensions
2005-06-10, 1:51 PM #1
Lately, tensions between China and Japan have increased a bit. In an anti-Japenese forum, people started talking about Japan "whitewashing" (in their words, I am not sure, I havn't read the text) WWII in their new textbooks. Some guy posted a picture of a Japenese Idol -- that is, an equivelent to Models here in America -- named Saaya Irie, and the forums post dropped dramatically.

Now, how old do you think Saaya Irie is?

Linked.

She's only 11 years old.

The statistics reached America, and now Americans are forming opinions on Irie and her parents, saying they should have not encouraged this type of "sexual exploitation".

I took the time to find one of the forums about this topic.

One of the forums. (Warning: Over PG-13 Rating link)

Please post your opinions on Saaya Irie, and this situation in general. I am curious to what others think.

Is she nude? No. Is she being held at knife-point? Probably not. Is she smiling, rich, and famous? Yes. I see no problems here.

The only problem I DO see is how that girl stands up. This thread will turn from a debate on the morality issues involved, to the physics involved. Is she actually real? It seems impossible that an eleven year old girl's breasts can be that freaking huge.

I'd have to disagree, Kirby. My sisters wasn't exactly small at that age. I've also seen alot of 14 year olds who look 18 (was a nightmare when working in pubs spotting the under aged drinkers)

Thos are the biggest breasts I have ever seen on an 11 year old. And they are also some of teh biggest real breasts I've seen on an Asian.
Woah.

Thats kinda scary for an 11 year old. I mean, I've seen 13 year olds that look like they're 17 or 18, but 11 and looking like that. Thats just insane. Her face, yeah it looks like she could be younger, but obviously the rest of her doesn't look it.
Life is beautiful.
2005-06-10, 5:02 PM #12
That's really not that bad, theres been a lot worse. I mean it's no different than seeing an 11 year old at a pool or something. Now, if the picture was meant for arousal and stuff, yeah that's definitely ridiculous IMO. However she could be a model for kids bathing suits. There's no copyrights to really explain it.

Though the Japanese look differently on the whole issue of kids and such so it could very well be for arousal, but theres no real evidence to pose judgement. I mean, just seeing it immediately puts up red flags, but she's not really in a suggestive pose so...

As for her breasts, my exgirlfriend (who was asian) wore b cups when she was that age so it's not like it's impossible. A couple girls I know mentioned that they have bigger breasts because they were on the pill since early teen years, it could be the same for the girl in the pic. Granted it may sound weird for a girl that age to be on the pill and such, but one mentioned that being on the pill really helped with their PMS.

All in all though, I would have to say it is pretty creepy without knowing the full story- assuming it's innocent.

That actually made no sense. If you didn't know how old she was, that would automatically make her hot? Or what? I don't get what you mean.

Yeah, they're notorious for it. But you do have to consider the differences between the two, cartoon versions are the lesser of two evils when you think about it. Granted in the long-run it could be just as bad by supporting it, but at least with cartoons the girls can't get hurt or exploited. At least...not until someone gets motivated enough from it that they decide to go after real life girls.

I hear kids in central America have been born with breast buds en mass, supposedly as a result of food additives.

Apparently a lot of the growth hormone in our chicken stays in it and makes the girl's hormones start up early. Try going to the beach. Is it a short 18 year old, or a tall 10 year old?

In my honest opinion, I see nothing wrong with her being an Idol. It's a lot of girl's dreams to be one. She is not forced, and not posing nude, so there is no harm for her doing this. Japan even has lower crime rates than we do, so I do not think there will be any trouble with this at all.

Well, that's an interesting picture. You can take it what you want it as, but she does not look like something a pedophile would be after. If I didn't know, she looks young, but I'd say she was in her late teens; nothing about her screams "I'm a pre-teen" from that picture.

What is the point of this thread? How in hell does it relate to the Chinese? What are you trying to say? It's an 11 year old that does not look like one. Trying to get some of us to say "yeah, we'd hit that" and fire-and-brimstone us, or do you want us to bash Japan? I'm at a bit of a loss.

In truth, if the girl looked like that and I didn't know how old she was, yeah, I'd hit that. Someone give me a reason why not!

Anyway, PBF always makes things right...

What's the point of that cartoon? haha

The point of this thread is to get people's opinions on this matter. Call it selfish of me, but I want to know what others think.

This has to do with the Chinese because of the tensions they (China and Japan) both share. When the Chinese stopped posting things like "I hate Japan!", that statistic reached here, and now Americans are saying that Saaya Irie is immoral. So, I was woundering what people really think.

Nothing suggested in that post that she was.

That I suppose adds to it?

I think context really needs to be established before it can be considered immoral or not. Too many damn things these days turn into arguments without even a frickin context.

Indeed, while it's not really a crime, someone could still be stupid enough to take you to court by considering it as severe as a sex crime.

That could happen in some other countries though.

Hmm...weird of Google to say that. Maybe it's some person that got their views mixed up, but Saaya Irie is Japenese alright...and is compared a lot with another Japenese idol, Yuko Ogura.

Ah, I googled it up, says something different:

Umm well. In Japan, that's not really anything special. There's a girl jpop group called "SweetS" that debuted when they were eleven, and they are almost undeniably loli .. they had a single on their debut album called "LolitA- strawberry in the summer", and their CD jackets (5 different ones I think) were the (5) of them dressed provocatively and posing in various (sexual) positions

There are tons of other, similar groups too, and pop culture / the media (+ anime and manga) amplify the obsession with young girls

Just being frank, it's going to make me very angry if this turns out to be another case of americans getting their hands on some culturally / "morally" different thing, start protesting it, and push for a reform in OTHER COUNTRIES .. leave them alone

On the topic of the title of the thread, however, I'm chinese and am going to japan for an exchange program in about a week. Hopefully I won't get shot by a lunatic.

And Irie is a japanese name. I-ri-e.

They built a jetpack.

I'm a little bad, but I think they said that they expect this to go only 10 meters, which is like 30 ft...but it went 300 ft. or so.

At first it looks like they're ordinary people, and one of them is ogling a horse. The other guy says that's disgusting. But then it turns out that they're centaurs, and the disgusting part is that she's thirteen, not that she's a horse. It's a difference in age that causes the upset, not in species. This is an unexpected twist, therefore ironic. Ha ha ha!

Can we PLEASE stop the anti-American thing? It's been pretty civil for such a controversial issue with no sign of a flame war brewing. Even us Americans have kept our cool. Can we please stop being stereotyped because some jerks elsewhere can't talk rationally about it?

That was really uncalled for, Pommy.

That was anti-American? He was telling Americans that their morals and ideas aren't the only ones in the world. Jesus, if that's un-American, call me a Canadian, because that's the next place I'm going.
