You can get a 256MB card for probobly just as cheap as those on Newegg.

The Geforce 5x00 series didn't too well when compared with their ATI counterparts if I remember correctly. I don't know a whole lot about ATI cards, so I can't help you between those two.

Its just gonna be temporary, for like 3-4 months, until I start to get money flowing. Then I can get a really good one.

the plain x300 is probably the best card out of the bunch, as the SE normally refers to a "value" card.

as for the x300 compared to the FX5200, probably not a great deal of difference in benchmarks like 3dmark but in-game the x300 will probably come out top.

How much are you looking to spend? Chances are you could get something better than those without knowing it (and you always want to get the best you can).

If your going to be getting a new card in a couple more months anyway, why spend the money on ANOTHER new card? You could just save it and make the new card you get that much better.

^^^ that's what i was thinking. Unless you have like, $600 coming in a few months and money won't be a concern then.

Ok, I think I could spend 150-200 bucks on a new videocard. Any suggestions on what a good one is? I want to be able to play alot of newer games. (Like Battlefield 2)

As a man who uses an X300, i can confidently say: ... yea. Splurge and get yourself something better.

My GeForce FX 5200 sucks. CAme w/ the comp.... My other comp specs beat out people who get better performance in stuff like doom3, but the vid card craps it.

In that price range, I'd go for a 6800 like Yoshi said, or a 6600 GT. I just got a 6600 GT, and it runs new games great.
