They are REALLY ruining the Resident Evil Franchise. The only one, in my opinion, that has any merit or moderate legitimacy in comparison with any of the videogames is the first one. The second one was a terrible mesh of "aspects" of the game into a really bad storyline.

I think the idea of the post-apocalyptic Nevada movie set well after the zombies have already taken over sounds interesting. All the zombie movies I've ever seen have focused on the moment the zombies first appear, and what happens to a few characters that bump into them (almost always ending in those characters' death). This plot sounds like it has already gone through that (as we have for... 70+ years?) and then asks, "now what?"

Of course, it also might just be a Mad Max meets Night of the Living Dead with Milla Jovovich thrown in.

I don't care if the plot holds true to the games. I don't want to watch a movie about a guy trapped in a mansion or police station, looking for a gem to put in a statue's eye socket so he can proceed to a new area where he has to solve some other ridiculous puzzle. If a video game movie were to actually adhere to what a video game is, it would be like watching someone else play. It would make for a bad movie. Of course... all video game movies that have departed from the games they derive from were lousy as well. A hopeless genre really, based heavily on what might make more money for a franchise than anything of actual quality (see also: games based on movies).

He's playing the sergeant.

I hope the movie ruins his mediocre acting career.

How can you ruin Resident Evil? It already sucks.

Two new movies?! Why won't they take a page from the zombie playbook and die already?

Well, it's not about a Metal Gear Solid movie. The link is to an article about two new Resident Evil movies.

The title says "this is L I K E saying that a MGS movie would be in the country of Colombia, instead of Alaska."

I was specifically referring to the last of the RE movies being in Tokyo.

Tokyo?

Where the hell was RE in tokyo in the games? Outside of Racoon city... there was antarctica, there was a pacific island, and there was rural europe, but NEVEr was there tokyo.

So basically this movie rips off Land of the Dead, when the Dead already have taken over the world?
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

... What would be wrong with a MGS movie being filmed in Colombia?

Slightly off topic, but agent 47 will be played by Vin Diesel in the Hitman movie...

I didn't say filmed in Colombia, I mean taking PLACE in colombia...

And exactly why is this such a bad thing? The fact that they don't try to stick exclusively to the story presented in the games is one of the reasons I found the first two RE movies enjoyable.

It's bad because the Lord of the Rings didn't take place in a neo-techno gang-filled future tokyo, it took place in a fictional past.

you don't have to re-do the whole story of Resident Evil... I mean essentially, it's "Resident Evil... as it could have been... as sucky as possible... with highlights...if that... of some videogame franchise of the same name" (I'm really referring to RE:Apocalypse)

The first movie, though not following precisely the videogames, was the most accurate to the videogames, THAT'S why I liked it.

It doens't have to be perfect, just worthy of the name "resident evil" in my opinion.

I'd like ot see Wesker, or something creative... just something good.

But zombies keep coming after you after they are technically dead... so you're saying you want more RE Movies? ;) :p

Again...what is so wrong about this?

MGS took place in Alaska on a nuclear base.

MGS 2 took place on a frigging oil tanker and oil platform.

MGS 3 took place in the jungles of Russia.

IF they made a MGS movie, it could work in Columbia. As long as he isn't fighting drug czars or something.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

man, an MGS movie can take place in outer space for all i know. Hideo Kojima is simply... NUTS. i mean, the plots he writes? jesus. and there *are* no jungles in Russia.

that wacky Japanese.

THe problem is, MGS never took place in colombia. I prefer adaptations that are fairly accurate.

Um, Russia doesn't have jungles. Unless you mean, like, the other Russia. The one that doesn't exist.
