I'd love to - but for some unbeknownst reason, my univeristy email account (when accessed from home) refuses to send to hotmail, and on the same lines I can't access my own hotmail account from home either!! It's probably the same problem that won't let me use the image hosting service...

(and now I'm switching browsers because Massassi is timing me out - probably another problem at my (useless) end)

New as of 2 days ago. Made it myself. I decided to show off my awesome WindowBlinds skin too. It's really very nice. I right-click on the titlebar, the window collapses into the titlebar so that's all you see. I click a button over on the right of the titlebar and the window becomes invisible, which can be convienent.

At the moment, I'm taking all of my Hichhiker's Guide to the Galaxy tapes (yes, TAPES) and running them into the computer and recording them, then converting them to Mp3. That's what's in that folder, Side A and B of the first tape. I've got about 5 more to do and they take about an hour a piece for one side.

Yea, you've heard more than you wanted to about my desktop and my latest projects now.

Shoot. I just uninstalled LiteStep. Well, it really wasn't serving me much use anyway, and it was less flexible than Explorer. I had it set up to emulate KDE, but I really didn't need it.

Anyway, here is what I have now:

Yecti - I've been curious what you use for that desktop. Is it just WindowsBlinds? Or did you find a really cool LiteStep theme?

Tis a shell replacement for explorer (ie the desktop, taksbar, start menu) that is entirely customisbale - less bloaty than explorer due to a modular design/code. I've downloaded a lot of the files I need but to be honest I'm a bit scared to run them - all the forums say to noobs is to "Read the Docs before asking dumb questions" Fair enough until you realise that litestep.net's "Docs" page isn't there at the moment, and hasn't been for at least a fortnight...

...But it's soooooo pretty....tempting...!!

Configuring LiteStep isn't horribly difficult, and most of the documentation you need is included with the theme. The biggest qualm I had with it was a severe lack of drag-and-drop. Other than that, it's a good shell replacement.

Insert clean-install Windows XP desktop here.

No custom icons.

No weather reports.

No pointless clutter.

Just the Windows default.

I hade my litestep and linux escapades. But I never needed anything that I got there (in litestep, linux is a different story). So I went back to a customized WinXP - and I am absolutely happy now.

I have to agree slug, I couldn't live with all these things neither. But I need a well designed UI. And I can't see the normal windows interface anymore since I got saw other things (like linux KDE, gnome...).

I love that "nonstep" design that I now use for winamp, windows and trillian [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Agreed. However, I find it useful to have a system monitor running. It gives me a readout I often find useful as to what my computer's doing and/or what's slowing it down. It stays pretty small and compact though, nothing like what Mystic0 has. Just look at my screen.
