I stepped on it.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Digi cam is in my mom's room. She is asleep.

I'm gonna run over to Game Stop tomorrow and buy another copy, bring it home, drop the broken one into the tray, take it back and say it was broken, then get ANOTHER copy of GT4. I'm then going to take it to Best Buy in the original thing, say it was a graduation gift, and trade it for another game since Best Buy doesn't need receipts.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Hmm, will Game Stop do a return on opened software though?

Wow, I'm glad you're incredibly dishonest and deceitful.

I didn't purposely break the frigging game. It fell off my PS2 in front of my dresser and I walked by and stepped on it. It's not like I threw it against the wall or something.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Oops, I used my computer as an ashtray. I didn't break it on purpose.

See, floors aren't supposed to have, you know, CDs on them. You were careless. You put it in a careless place. It's your fault.

My PSP is sitting on top of some folded clothes, under where I sleep on my bed because i was playing before I go to sleep. Somehow, this clothing moves itself out from under my bed... my heel steps on something hard... I turn the PSP on, and the liquid crystal underneath the glass surface is cracked. IE: theres this pattern like you'd see from a bullet shattering glass in a window like a spiderweb, cracking from the central point where my foot was, but it's something UNDER the outer glass, and you can only see it when you turn on the unit.

THAT my firend, is much, much worse.

250 bucks down the tubes. It still works, sitll plays games, still hear sound, I can change the menu options. Trouble is, I can't SEE it. just a bunch of cracks.

And sony says "ok, you can wait till we have the ability to repair it, or you can buy a new one, because our warranty covers it, but we cna't repair it at this time, and we have no idea when we can repair it, or you can buy a new unit."

...

I have 2 dressers in my room. Both contain clothes. The television rests on top of one of these dressers. Directly to the left are my VCR, my sattellite TV box and my PS2 all on top of each other. Therefore my PS2 DVD was on my dresser. If you are that frigging picky, I'll take a damn photo of my room tomorrow to prove it to you.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I feel your pain. I dropped mine once, and my heart stopped. Luckily, it was in it's little case, otherwise more damage would have been done.

But I am mad that my PSP is starting to get a scratch here or there. Not big ones, just small ones. :\

I broke my copy of Lord of Destruction, because of the stupid DVD-case. Luckily I had made an iso of the CD because my friends said that you can't copy Blizzard games and I wanted to prove them wrong.

But I'm going to buy a new copy as soon as the price drops below 5€. I could've sent the CD to Blizzard but that would've been more expensive than just buying a new copy...
Sorry for the lousy German

Funny, I bought the screen protector, the slim plastic stick-on one, and I bought the big black plastic cover... but I didn't have it on at the time.

and I STILL broke the screen.

You can too copy blizzard games. I've made a valid backup of my WC3 TFT CD. It's really easy--google and some time (about 30 min to an hour depending on the game) will help you.

But it is pretty damn good copy protection, considering what other companies use.

Well, I didn't need google to know of this site that concerns itself with how to copy all the games you can find in the world but all they had were instructions for Windows.
But as I have to use a no-CD crack to play it in Linux even when I use an original CD, I can live with my crappy iso.

I'm sorry, but thats what CASES are for. I find it hilarious when people leave games all over the house without cases then cry when they lose or break them. No pity.

The PSP is probably the most fragile hardware I've ever owned. Just from holding it, I get the feeling that one fall will break it into multiple pieces. As such, I'm incredibly paranoid about its safety. I think that's one thing Sony overlooked. Things that people carry with them eventually tend to get dropped. I used to drop my Gameboy all the time, and it would hardly get a scratch. Now that was a sturdy piece of equipment.

Consoles theses days aren't as reliable as they used to be. The DVD drives in them are the biggest offenders. If you don't get a disc read error with your PS2 after a few years of heavy use you can consider yourself lucky. And don't get me started on that ****ty Thomson drive in the XBox.

I must've dropped my original Gameboy a hundred times. And it still works to this day. I think I bought mine in 1994 or something.

Great, now you can get Forza!

DS forever! *runs away*

Seriously though, put games in the cases! That's what their there for. I've never understood going to people's houses and they just have disks lying on the floor.

GameStop did not step on your game.

Sony did not step on your game.

Best Buy did not step on your game.

You stepped on your game.

It is your fault.

Nintendo hardware, in general, can take anything. You can drop a Super Nintendo from a two story building and still play it.

And the NES controller? A landmark in durability.
You will die alone.

And that makes being dishonest excusable how?

And GameStop is likely to check the game before they sell it to you (at least if it's used). You bringing it back complaining it was sold to you broken is likely to warrent a little more than average suspicion. Even if you buy a new copy... well I'll just pray you don't figure it out and they do. :p

It shouldn't, but it should stop him trying to rationalize it as the right thing to do. :p

I remember once when I dropped my Gameboy (old school) and the plastic screen protector flew off. I almost **** myself until I turned it back on without it on and it still worked. WHEW. I just glued that puppy back together and BAM! Fixed. I then handed it down to a cousin who used it for a while himself. Not sure whats up with it now, I think he still has it in a drawer, or smashed it to look at the insides. :)

In fairness though, there's a lot more tech wise that can go wrong with a PSP then a NES controller though. How many parts were really in the controller?

I'm a Nintendo fan though - and one of their strengths is the quality of their systems. I've had an NES, a N64, a GC, and now a DS and can still play them all like they're new.

Plus their warranty's are great. You have a 1 year warranty free of defects. Plus their customer service is great. If you have a dead pixel, just call Nintendo and they will get it resolved. Plus it's a 5-7 day turnaround for repairs under warranty

On this issue though, this is cheating the system. Hopefully the game company is smart because you can usually hear if there's a broken disk in a case when they sell. So they might not buy your excuse.

This isn't the first time I've heard of this general plan, so I'm sure the gaming companies aren't unaware of it.

I dropped my CD Player once, and the laser arm stopped working correctly. Then I stepped on the screen a while later and it broke.

So I bought an iPod.

Bought.

With money.

I didn't cry about it. Read what I typed.

"I just broke my copy of GT4. I stepped on it."

Where was I crying or whining? If I said "Damnit I can't believe I just broke my frigging copy of GT4! GAH that just frigging pisses me off so bad."

So I didn't whine. I merely stated it.

I dunno. I bought a copy of Max Payne 2 for the PS2 after it came out and the game wasn't working on my PS2. I took it back, got another copy, same thing. I took it back again, got ANOTHER copy, then went to ANOTHER Best Buy with it in bag and bought some DVDs.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

a friend of mine when he was younger got in a fight with his brother... they both landed on their NES...

he still has it in the condition it was in after the fight... cracks all over the case (even a chunk that's missing) but the system still worksi've accidentally stepped on my NES controllers a few times... even though the stuff is alot more simple it was still alot more durable

these days you probably can't even strangle someone with a controller cable for one of these newer systems
eat right, exercise, die anyway
