Sooo where to begin. (gotta put some backstory to explain the situation)

I'm dating this girl, she's also got this guy who's madly in love with her.

How do I know this you ask? Well, let me rewind. She and I (along with some friends) went to go see Mr. and Mrs. Smith (good movie by the way) and she said two of her friends were coming. Matt, and Nate. (matt being the one in love with her). Nate thought I was hot and asked to go out on a double date.

Well we go out, the guys are perfect gentlemen (opening doors, paying the bill...I was like you all are aliens, men dont do that...since when were gentlemen still in exsistance). Anywho we get back to my gf's house, and Matt is kinda just looking all moppy and taking deep sighs etc. I knew no background on him, besides that he and she were friends, but I knew it...he was in love.

I approached him about it and he agreed that he was really into her, and how much he cared for her. Etc. anywho we were all supposed to hang out again but it was at this club "Cowboys" and I didnt know how much country music I could take. regardless Nate got hurt ( I think I was partially afraid, he seems too good to be true, I dont want to invest) anyways so last night I was at jackie's house spending the night, she's gone into how upset nate was, how he wanted to buy me drinks and buy me a rose etc, and I feel awful, so we go to call him, but it's so late that he's sleeping...so we call matt...

well, eventually jackie passes the phone to me, and falls asleep and I proceed to talk to matt...who goes on for at least a good 2 hours, about how much he's in love with her. Thing is, he lost his virginity to her. I mean he knows all these little details about her, and my heart is breaking because she's told me she doesnt really like him that way, but how he spoils her etc. And I can hear it in his voice, and I know what he's feeling because I have been him before, I've been that one clinging onto anything because u have fallen in love with someone. To the pt. where u love how they laugh, u know their little quirks, and you love it all. He and I sat and talked, and he's been hurt by her so many times, and all I can think is...he's going to have to learn on his own. I had too, he'll have to. And yet...I want to help him. I told him to be careful, but I know he's too wrapped in his love for her to think clearly.

He wants to provide for her, just do everything for her, and he's this really good guy, and I feel like screaming at her, I dont know why she cant see it...she's got this world of greatness in front of her, and she'd rather take it for granted.

Anyways she finally wakes up and sees i'm still talking to him and goes to talk to him, and he goes onto say how i'm really smart and how he's glad she and I are friends, and eventually she says goodnight etc.

Here's the thing...I turn to her while we are laying in bed and I go "you know he's really in love with you, he cares about u a lot" and she says "i know...isnt it pathetic. I dont know why he is, I only slept with him once and he's already hooked" Thank god it was dark cuz I swear my jaw dropped. I was holding her hand and I was like "u know i'm glad i've had my heart broken before, so that I dont invest so much into relationships anymore. I guess i've become more cold, and more hesistant to comit. Like I like u as a friend, and I'm attracted to you, but i'm not that deep into you, luckily cuz u seem like a heart breaker"

So now, i'[m laying there, unable to sleep, the words of this guy running through my mind. Words of how much he loves her, how much he'd do anything for her, and then her words of laughing it off and calling him pathetic...and I wonder...should I mention it to Nate (aka his friend, so that he'll let Matt down easily)...or should I mind my own business? Should I just not say anything and let this guy get hurt...or do I step in and say something and risk everyone getting mad at me. I dont know what to do, but one things for sure, my heart is breaking for this kid, he doesnt deserve it, he'[s one of the only guys I've met in a long time that's a truely good guy...and he doesnt deserve to get treated this way.

So asking all of you fellas...what do you think I should do? As a girl, asking a guy, what do you all think, and what would u all want, if u were in Matt's situation?

Please help, thnx everyone

Tell him how she really is. Force it into his brain. He's in love with the thought of being in love, not in love with her because he obviously doesn't know her.

Make him realize this and he'll be shattered, but he'll recover. I know, I've been there.

Good luck though, he's going to be stubborn as hell.

Well, I know I'm not a guy, but I always think it's best not to get involved in situtations like this. When it all ends, no one can blame you for doing nothing (technically.) It all depends on if you want to chance losing your friend over this or not.

she and i only recently started dating, so it's not that big a deal and I met those two guys through her, so I dont really know them all that well either.

I guess being a girl, my emotions are just getting too in the way. but being that I've been in Matt's situation before, my heart goes out to him, and I guess i'm thinking if I help him, maybe it'll be like, if I were able to help myself from getting hurt when I went through that...

Then again u are right, maybe I shouldnt step in some territory that doesnt directly involve me.

okay... so Nate likes you and wanted to buy you a rose? Nate's a dude, right? i don't mind gay people, just a bit confused here. ehm... okay... cool. if i were you i probably would tell him too, although it'd make no difference. he (Matt) will still be in love, but maybe for not as long as he would have been otherwise, though.

I think it all matters if you want to put yourself through the drama. Drama is not fun...>_>

Yes, I'm rather sick of drama and try to avoid it now, all that gets me, is that last night on the phone Matt said " I would just hope you all would tell me something if u knew it" (referring to if, she was lying to him about liking him) All I managed to choke out was "to be careful" , and "that even if things dont work with her, he'll find someone else, cuz when I liked the guy I liked, I got crushed and I cried, but I'm stronger for it, and life does go on"

...ouch +5. Are you sure you wish to associate with this girl?

It is actually for the above reason I quoted that this bloke Matt should be told. Do NOT tell him about it being called "pathetic." It will crush him to no ends. Instead, explain that she just does not feel the same way as he does. It will do him no good to keep thinking that she loves him back. I suggest that his friend do it. He knows Matt better and probably can find the best way for him to relay the unfortunate news.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Thought I was in love with this girl I didnt know much about (turned out she was a dyke grrr  ) but i was just in love with the idea of being love.

And 2ndly, I'm confused, you're a girl, dating... a girl?

Whats wrong with guys all of a sudden? We're brilliant!!! :D
