I'm getting a black Ferrari Modena.

Lets race.

Bet that's a major gas guzzler though... the regular GTO gets pretty poor gas milage.

I'd want it if it wasn't bright orange, blue, and didn't have an airplane wing coming off the ***-end.

Black stock ftw.

It's supposed to be a race car, hence the airplane ricer wing.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Have...you even clicked the link? THAT IS A RACE CAR.

MONTEREY, Calif. – Pontiac has chosen TRG, a successful California-based motorsports organization, to run the first two of its GTO.R race cars in the GT class of the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. The production-based race cars were introduced at last November’s SEMA show and have spent the last four months being designed constructed, developed and tested by GM Racing. TRG will take possession of the cars in late May and will enter at least one of the vehicles in the Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway on June 30.

You realize that car is capable of going 150+ easily, and at those speeds you need some frigging down force on a RWD in order to prevent it from spinning out. This has nothing to do with The Fast and the Furious. This IS A RACE CAR FOR PROFESSIONAL RACING. Not some punk kids who been watching too much of Paul Walker in next to impossible to find cars.

Quite the nice Type-R. I've always had a thing for Pontiacs.

That's a re-badged Aussie made and designed Holden Monaro with a slightly different grill.

Yay for Aussie cars :D

Looks better than the aussie racecar version though, even if one does have an extra litre of capacity :) . And thrawn, I think zanardi was bashing the "fast and the furious" mentality, not the other way round...

Looks too much like a Dodge Avenger for my liking.

EDIT: Plus every single Pontiac front end looks exactly the same.

The Trans-Am is the only Pontiac for me. With it's cast-iron frame, poor gas-milage, and those flip up lights on the 3rd gen that I've never seen functioning. Not even on the Camaro.
Steal my dreams and sell them back to me.....

Yes, nothing like a SEDAN to be used to strike fear in the heart of racing. Nice car though. $20 says at the end of the new Dukes of Hazard movie, they'll get a new Charger.

You see, I don't care if it can race against the best. I want something that doesn't look like crap.

You mean something like a "highway"? Wow, I never would have imagined that most of our fast driving would take place on a straight road. How can I ever thank you for this amazing insight?

That's news to me.

Last time I looked, Nascar used only American cars. Monte Carlo, Grand Prix (YEAH!), Dodge Charger, etc. Oh crap, those are all American cars. Oh crap, those are all on curved tracks.

Well, if you buy a Toyota Camry that is built in Arizona, does that make it a Japanese car still?

What if you buy a Pontiac Grand Prix? Those are built in Canada, does that mean it is a Canadian car?

Pontiac is owned by GM, and American company. Thus, it is an American car.

SAAB is owned by GM, an American company. People still consider SAAB a Sweedish car though.

The Holden Monaro is built in Australia at the GM Holden plant, then exported to the US and re-badged and
re-grilled to a Pontiac GTO.

Designed in, built in, and exported from Australia... Does that make it an Australian car?

I get what you are saying, I really do. However, again, GM is an American car company and in the majority of consumers eyes, regardless of the country of origin, it is American.

Remember when Mazda had that pick up truck and SUV that was based on the Ford Explorer and Ford Ranger? Obviously rip offs of them, but people still considered them Japanese or whatever Mazda is. The Isuzu Hombre was based on the Chevrolet S-10, but not considered an American truck.

Last time I checked, Nascar isnt the only racing event. Not to mention, its a circuit, it doesn't require sharp turns.

2005-06-21, 9:24 PM #32
Oh btw, Nascar doesn't exist outside of the America's for one crucial factor- racing isn't all about racing on an oval track, always makign the same angled turns over and over again. In Europe and Asia, there are many places that don't have long stretches of roads. Its all about the turns and sharp corners. In other words, horse power isnt everything. It all depends on how well the car handles the sharp turns. American cars usually spin out easily compared to European / Japanese cars.

So this makes them superior how?

That just means that they're better at turning. Woo.

I'd rather have a fast car any day over something that can turn a few degrees more without spinning out.

I could show you a video of why we don't have rally races in this country with sharp turns. I'd be banned though.
