4 times a day? If you're going in and out of a coma, sure. I use my taskbar visually even more than kinestetically. If somebody IMs me, I look up to see who it is. Having to move my cursor up 800 pixels to see that is a waste.

No, I'm just saying that it doesn't matter either way. It's just a thing some people have.

Oh and the task bar auto-pops out if someone messages me.

Indeed. Yoshi has issues :/

Anyway, my IM's have their own monitor (along with firefox). And, as Yoshi pointed out, when someone IM's you, the taskbar pops up so you can read it.

I somehow got used not to use windows maximized, so I like it when my two bars are always visible. If I want to see something on my whole screen I press F11 and use the fullscreen mode. But I usually switch too much between windows with focus follows mouse. One has to get used to it but once you are it's faster, at least that's what my feeling tells me.
