Recently, I went to see the new Batman movie, and personally by far, I think that it was the greatest Batman I have seen. I can not wait to see the 2nd one. There is this crane machine at my job and I won a Batman wallet and also a Batman doll. Batman kicks a$$. I want the Bat mobile. That is the most awesome automobile that I have ever seen. If they were selling it and I had the money I would by it. It rocks.
I AM BATMAN!!!

Yes, the Tumbler has now replaced the Armadillo (from Armageddon) as the coolest movie vehicle ever.

I was kind of disappointed by the Batmobile. It was cool, no doubt, but it lacked... battyness.

They've already released one. This is the one I have. I'm researching to see what the new one looks like.

edit - obviously I know what the new one looks like but apparantly it's set for a September release. Still looks inferior to the '89 version IMO. I remember a loooong time ago MTV gave away one of the movie cars minus an engine.

Christian Bale was driving the batmobile from Batman Begins downtown here. Till it got into an accident and he got banned from driving it ever.

Christian Bale is hot.

I was going to a concert once at Red Rocks ampitheater. It's a large mostly naturally occuring rock formation in the mountains that has awesome acoustics (the basic shape was naturally formed, the seats, stage, etc. obviously weren't).

Anyway, we were up in the mountains afterwards driving home and the car has trouble, so we pull over onto the shoulder. And what car is on the shoulder in front of us? On a mountain road in the middle of the night? The god damn Batmobile, such as appeared in the first movie with Keaton. It was surreal, but we didn't approach it.

They're releasing the Burtonmobile, again. For the third time. (The second time was earlier this year and had a battle damage chase variant) This time though it comes in a nice displayable cylinder with mirrored bottom and sides.

It will also have a new glossy finish. Here's some good pics: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=223&item=6965242713&rd=1

I was talking about the Tumbler though, in which this may have an image of what it looks like. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16482&item=6965592096&rd=1

I really don't know if it's an actual promo image for it though since it looks like any other Tumbler picture.

Well, since it's his first Batmobile, maybe it'll get battier as time goes on.

Saw it twice, and, I have to say, Christian Bale easily makes the best Batman. Gary Oldman pulls off a really good Gordon, as well. I look forward to the two other movies.

I haven't seen Begins, but I guess it's good! A friend of mine is a true batman fanatic. He put on his batman Halloween costume from grade 6, when he was running for Student Council President in grade 11. It looked painful. It was funny, though, because nobody ran against him and he won be default. I hope he doesn't run our school into the ground. Anyhoo...

I thought Val Kilmer was the best Batman, out of all the previous movies. But I always thought Bruce should have black hair, like in Begins. The new guy sort of reminds me of an American James Bond. I'll form an accurate opinion of him when I see the movie.

Just FYI, Christian Bale is actually Welsh, but he is a mastermind at faking accents. Regardless of nationality, I thought he was superb as Batman.

The new movie is excellent, just got back from seeing it. I must say that I liked it almost as much as Spider-Man, although they really are quite different movies. Also Liam Neeson is a kick-*** bad guy!!!

And please no threats about thread Necromancy, this is only reviving a week old thread. 3 weeks is the cap.

Yes you heard me people, I'm gonna comment whether you like it or not, so no flaming "holy thread necromancy batman" crap!

Even though it would be appropriate given the subject matter ;)

Meh. More I think about it, the more inferior I've though this film to the '89 "version". Not really version but, still, the new film disregards all of the previous movies instead of just telling its own tale. Whatever.

It's a potentially self-destrucive act of cleansing that DC has had to do several times. In order to get viewers/readers, they make the most bizarre crap and it starts to pile up over the years until scrapping the continuity and almost completely starting over is the only way to save the franchise.

I can't think of the term they used for it now but they fairly recently threw away 90% of the DC universe because it was buried in this kind of nonsene (every character had several evil twins, had died and come back multiple times, had special powers that only appeared in one issue, so forth). Thankfully this officially disposed of characters created for/by corporate sponsors. Marvel has a lot of these too, like the giant pastry chef from outer space that once saved Earth by feeding Galactus an enormous Hostess Twinkie(tm) that he found to be both filling and delicious.

You get the idea. Wish I could find the Batman issue I have around here somewhere that has him saying something about, "the cleansing power of flame."
2005-06-28, 9:42 PM #25
Yeah, they first did it in the late 80's with Crisis on Infinite Earths by explaining that inconsisitancies between different stories were a result of different universes across which the stories were taking place. They destroyed all of the universes except one, throwing a lot of the conflicting history out.

They did it again more recently in Zero Hour: Crisis in Time by explaining that any inconsistancies that had not be resovled by CoIE, or had appeared since then, were a result of different time lines. Again, they destroyed all but one of these timelines, removing a lot of the history.

Don't ask me what the difference between different timelines and different universes is, because I dont know.

Marvel has done the same thing a couple of times but I never really kept up with Marvel comics so I dont know the specifics about what they did to restart their comics universe. I've also heard rumors that DC comics is planning on doing this again sometime soon.

Correct. But re-writing the whole thing because they allowed two horrible movies to be produced is dumb. Being that these are based on comics there isn't a huge need to maintain real continuity but it wasn't necessary to make all of the previous movies irrelevant. They could have just made a Batman movie. I still like this new one. I just think the villians are weak and the effects were overdone (regarding the "fear" bs).

nope.

I'd rather they did a movie based on the Dark Knight series :

Robin gets killed at shotgun point by the joker, batman, older, gets pissed and kills the joker (first bad guy he meaningfully kills) and starts a new Cult of Shadows at his own image.

And then superman is ordered to kill batman. Lollies. That was a great series.
