And came across this video:

http://www.compfused.com/directlink/697/

(no warnings)

I think I was meant to laugh at it, but I'm strangely mesmerized and cannot stop watching. Does it have the same effect on anyone else?

It becomes even more pathetic when you realize they are lip synching.

Also, that guy in green looks like the "off-blast" guy.
2005-06-22, 11:17 AM #4
That's... interesting...

But, I must agree, it is rather mesmerizing... I love the song for some reason.... no clue what it's supposed to be about... but I love it.

Anyone else think the girl in red in the video looks strangely familiar? I swear I've seen her in a movie or TV Show or something before.

:( I need the plugin and i'm to lazy.
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Saw it a while ago. Love it.

FCTuner, yea when I saw the girl I instantly paid more attention because she looked familiar. The red and white guy has some rad dance moves.

I'm still enjoying it. The music's catchy! I thought about buying their CD just for that song.

This would be awesome to blast in the car.

I just noticed that the guy in green reminds me a lot of the 'Wizard' from The Wizard of Oz...

Oh, and I found the lyrics.... For anyone at all interested...

http://www.lyricsdownload.com/dschinghis-khan-moskau-lyrics.html

If only I could find the song... or even a CD... as long as the CD weren't more than 5 bux anyway lol...

It's darn catchy... it's almsot driving me nuts... but I saved that Video... sadly, given the lyrics I found, it seems like that's not the whole song.

Translation: Took me 30 minutes to type. I left things pretty much to what I thought it would be, but I will edit with corrections (as I know there are errors in some spots). I would appreciate it if any fellow German-speaking Massassians would point out some errors and explain to me why it's wrong, as that is how I learn.

Moskau
a Pironeer/National patrionage song of the Russia City, Moscow...silly eastern germans :P

Strange and mysteriously
Towers of red and gold
Cold like the ice
Moscow, Moscow,
Though you know you are white,

In you so hot

It's a great translation, but I see what you mean with the parts that were added in to the movie which weren't in the lyrics. Actually, I watched the movie and the lyrics aren't anywhere close to what they sing. Here is what they actually sing, from where the clip begins to where it ends:

Quote:
Auf Dein Wohl Bruder hey Bruder ho
hey hey hey hey

Moskau, Moskau
Wirf die Gläser an die Wand
Russland ist ein schönes Land
Ho ho ho ho ho, hey
Moskau, Moskau
Deine Seele ist so groß
Nachts da ist der Teufel los
Ha ha ha ha ha, hey
Moskau, Moskau
Liebe schmeckt wie Kaviar
Mädchen sind zum küssen da
Ho ho ho ho ho, hey
Moskau, Moskau
Komm wir tanzen auf dem Tisch
Bis der Tisch zusammenbricht
Ha ha ha ha ha

Moskau
Lala lala lala la, lala lala lala la
Ho ho ho ho ho, hey
MoskauLala lala lala la, lala lala lala la
Ha ha ha ha ha
Oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh
Moskau, Moskau

Moskau, Moskau
Wodka trinkt man pur und kalt
Das macht hundert Jahre alt
Ho ho ho ho ho, hey
Moskau, Moskau
Väterchen dein Glas ist leer
Doch im Keller ist noch mehr
Ha ha ha ha ha

Moskau, Moskau

Kosaken hey hey hey hebt die Gläser
hey hey
Natascha ha ha ha du bist schön
ha ha
Towarisch hey hey hey auf das Leben
hey hey
Auf Dein Wohl Bruder hey Bruder ho
hey hey hey hey

Moskau, Moskau
Wirf die Gläser an die Wand
Russland ist ein schönes Land
Ho ho ho ho ho, hey
Moskau, Moskau
Deine Seele ist so groß
Nachts da ist der Teufel los

I don't think she looks like Bette, but what I found the most familiar is that smile she does. I know it from somewhere, I swear.

No.

And Wolfy, he looks like Inigo from "The Princess Bride" to me. But that's a good relation. :D

I looked it over, and the clip has one or two more lines I left out (that's not in the original lyrics) at the end of the clip. I'll add them.

Okay, I might peice together some information here and there to form reasons for this clip. Bare with me, and there is probally no doubt that this information is probally wrong. So I advise you to reasearch this yourself if you want.

Anyways, you remeber WWII, right? Well, Russia had control of Eastern Germany after WWII was over, and had it's control for quite some time. There were even special events that happened here, such as the Berlin Air Lift and the fall of the Berlin Wall, etc. This means that before the fall of the wall (Which was '93 maybe? Earlier?) that the Germans had a lot of Russian influences. I remeber my teacher telling me that when he went there in the 70's, that all the books you find in a book store on the first level were all in Russian. On the second level, there were the German written books.) Now if you went to Eastern Germany back before the Wall was torn down, you basically found the DDR (Deutsche
Demokratische Republik/German Democratic Republic) to be very loyalist. Flags wove everywhere, boyscouts were trained to sing songs about Eastern Germany, and pride was on every street corner. I recommend watching the movie, "Goodbye Lenin". It's in German, but the DVD version has subtitles. This movie totally relates to that.

Now that still dosn't explain why these guys are wearing silk and chinese-looking clothing. Well as you may know before Peter the Great "Eroupeanized" Russia, that basically everyone wore Chinese silk worn clothes, and those hats. Oh, and a lot of people had those hair styles (One guy was bald, one guy had a beard, the main guy had that curled hair). How this influence got into a play years after wearing silk and such was banned, I dunno.

If you are familiar with what I am talking about, please correct me again. :)
