Today, I lost my Wisdom!!!

Teeth, that is. Yeah, got my Wisdom teeth out today, and man I was dreading this day. But you know what, I actually feel really good, and this is only a couple hours after the operationn. It hurts no more, or even less, then when I first go tmy braces and had them tightened.

Procedure was farily normal. Took my valium, hour before, whihc really helped me relax and get tired. I must've yawned 10 times on the way to the oral surgeoun whihch was only 15 minutes away. Got there, got in there right away. Stuck these electrode/anode looking things on my wrist and one finger, gave me the IV, which didn't hurt at all, then gave me that oxygen mask thing(not the ones that jetpilots wear, but like the old people that have it wrap around their head and go up their nostrils). I heard the doctor countdown from 15 seconds, and at 0, he said "All right, let's do this", and I was out right at that moment.

My whole lower jaw is totaltly numb (you could try and cut it w ith a steak knife and I wouldn't feel anything), but otherweise, I guess I'm one of hte lucky ones that isn't feeling excruciating pain righ tnow. It's true that tomorrow it will be a lot sore, but still, hope for the best.

Share your wisdom teeth experiecnes.

Which teeth are specifically "wisdom teeth," and why do so many people always seem to be having them removed?

The mask they put on you was most likely nitrous oxide. What'd they give you for pain?

Either I'm stupid, or you're drunk.

I vote for the former.

Wisdom Teeth start coming in at a young age, but usually aren't a problem until you hit 15-16. They are the teeth that are farthest back in your mouth, behind your very last molar (I think your last teeth are called molars). They stay under your gum for a while, but the reason why they need to be removed is that they usually come in at very weird angles, which can cause severe pain to your mouth. They usually don't come in straight, but usually angling towards your last molar, and it hurts like hell.

some people are lucky enough to still have theirs.

Yep.. That's what happened to me..Once I get them pulled it bled a lot.. I had to keep rolled up strips of gauze in my mouth for a few days, then the stitches tasted bad (they dissolved..) and I couldn't suck from a straw otherwise I would suck out the clot causing it to bleed more. That was the worst part for me .

Oh, and I had Tylenol 3 with codeine...That sucked. It screwed up my sleep pattern really bad.. But it killed the pain, heh. This was just before Half-Life 2 came out so I spent a bunch of time beating Half-Life a few times on hard. That was fun..

...I some how quoted myself :(

Had mine out last tuesday. I have to rinse my mouth out with sal****er and some other mouthwash they gave me after I eat to prevent infection. Both taste awful.

Oh, it bleeped out salt water.
