This is odd. For some reason, a fly decided to bury himself (or herself) into my external cable modem. If you ever seen the Motorola cable modem, it has open slots. The fly got in and, time to time, buzz around hopelessly in it. I shake it, and I can hear it cry in agony.

A fly can't damage the modem, I assume. Actually, it might be a bee.

Hmm...this is a good oppurtunity to nickname your modem...

Since there's even a vague possilbility that there's a bee moving around in your house, I'd throw a grenade in through the window. Just to be safe. I hate bees.

Well, actually the term bug (in a computer sense at least, it was first reported used by Edison otherwise) came from actual bugs getting into old vacuum tube based computers... So his case is really more true to the origin...

I thought it was from when they used punch cards, and there was actually a dead fly blocking one of the holes and making the program run improperly.

Punch cards were the input/output systems of most vacuum tube based computers...
