Anyone work at Best Buy?
2005-06-25, 6:47 PM #1
About 3 months ago I bought a stereo for my car, spent $435 on all the stuff.

It's still not installed.

Anyway, due to some recent unforseen problems, I need $ to fix my car. The stereo and all the equipment are in the original box, original wrappers and never been installed. I paid with my credit card and have the original receipt.

Would I be able to get my $435 back?
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Generally, returns for most stores have to be made within 30 days. You might be out of luck. Best you could probably hope for would be store credit.

Why not just try selling the stuff on ebay or something?

Because the radio is only worth $280, the rest was some other stuff not worth (installation, warranty, etc). I'll just keep it if they won't let me take it back.

Most reciepts tell you the return policy.

::is an employee::

You technically were S.O.L. (not the person) 2 months ago. However, if nothing is opened and you have your original receipt, exceptions can be made.

My suggestion is to go in and be really nice to the Cust. Service rep. Tell them that you know you're out of policy, but you thought you'd give it a shot. They might give you store credit (probably a flat out return isn't going to happen).

Anyway, that's just my two cents. I'm hardly promising a return, or even a store credit. It's just always best to go in and be nice about things. Often times I've changed my mind on returns because of the customer's attitude and their handling of my answer.
Frightening the very small and very old since 1952.

If I cant get a full return Im just going to keep it. $435 to Best Buy isn't going to get my car working again, unless I sell the $435 credit to someone for $435.

A brother might, hell, if I have the original receipt. If someone i that interested, I'll go to Best Buy with them and prove it if I have to. Not to mention some of these cards have a number you can call to get a balance.

Off topic, but this thread title reminded me of what happened today.

I called up best buy to check on a couple monitors, wait 10 minutes on hold to get to somebody in computers. Somebody picks up. I tell him what I want, and he goes to look. 10 minutes later, they hang up on me.

Sorry, but **** you guys. Im going to buy online. Its even cheaper to buy online WITH SHIPPING that best buy's price, so **** it. **** you best buy you just lost a customer, sorry but that really pissed me off. Adios mother ****ers.

I'm glad you let one experience influence your opinion of the entire company.

...That's usually how people form opinions.

and also that he hijacked this thread to complain about it, as if any of us actually care.

Seriously dude, you have no idea what happened. And I'd bet $100 that it was an accident. Whatever employee it was isn't about to get off the line and think, "Gee, I think I'll piss this guy off by waiting ten minutes and hanging up on him." Who knows, maybe he went off to check on your item and got dragged into the office by his boss for something. Or maybe another customer hijacked him. It happens.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.
