Ouch just about all of the reviews agree that 100 out of the 117 mins are good. They all say it's a great movie with one of the worst endings ever :( Bleh :(

I know why they probably say the ending sucks

It probably ends like the radio show

It'll never touch this:

DISCLAIMER: This is just armchair observation, not the result of many hours of deliberate study of the subject. I'm by no means an expert, but just an ignorant hick who's putting his two cents in. For that and a nickel, you can have a cup of coffee.

From Morgan Freeman's narration on the soundtrack, your suspicions are confirmed .

"the greatest alien invasion movie ever"

Its all coming together!

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

It actually was quite good. Lots of suspense and thrills. I thought that Cruise was good in it as well. He acted like a regular Joe instead of "Oh gosh! Aliens! I am the only one who can save the world!".
Who made you God to say "I'll take your life from you"?

I watched it today. Good flick. I heard some complaints about the end but it seemed fine to me. The biggest mystery of the movie seemed totally unaddressed though so maybe there will be a sequel.

Watched it... had a few problems... overall it was OK, but the MAIN problem with it is

"they buried the ships here before there was even humans..."

1. if there were no humans, why bury a bunch of war ships that could be used after millions of years to fight a race of beings you had no idea would have existed.... WHY NOT JUST TAKE THE PLANET?!?

2. For those of you who say "they needed our blood to fertilize their plants..."
a. This is a crappy civilization, they must REALLY suck at taking over worlds if they need OUR blood to do it.... that would make the planets they could take over VERY limited... like.. 1.
b. I'm sure that since they are far more advanced, they have unnatural fertilizers.... just like we have crap AND Miracle Grow... they would probably have human blood AND some other unnatural fertilizer.

3. Say everything else worked for some other reason... it would take a few YEARS to bury all these machines around the world... and the years that they were living on earth to bury these things, you think they would have gotten sick and died.... and if not.. why did they leave? they had just spent X number of years on this planet to bury war machines (not to mention they had to fly them there, cause they weren't space ships) just to pack up and leave in order to come back millions of years later to FIGHT for the planet...

4. Also, you think that we may have found at least 1 of the machines before this happened... with all of our sysmic devices, and archeology... and EROSION for crying out loud.. you think that atleast one ship in the entire world would have showed up... like while laying some water pipes, or building foundations (the first machine came up from under the street in NY.)

I really wish there were some sort of explanation for this, cause I thought it was actually OK... But this whole idea seems rediculas to me...

it would be just like if we decided to colonize the moon, and we built massive space ships to carry 50,000 tanks to the moon.. then we burried them a mile down, then left..

I saw it as well tonight. I thought it was very good, except for the quick ending. The end was very akin to the movie Signs in the sense that what defeats the aliens is something very simple and somewhat like a scapegoat ending, like there wasn't enough time to think of a real ending so they just threw something in.

On the whole, it was an awsome movie, with plenty of action, scenery change, and tons of suspense. In the some places, the movie is downright SCARY, but on a whole different level than of a horror movie or similar.

Oh yeah, for those that have played or seen Half Life 2, one sound in particle will be very very familar: oddly enough, the three legged machines in HL2 make the same sound as the machines in the movie.

Yeah, they're great. The only thing I know about the movie is that the ending probably sucks, but I still don't know why, which is exactly how I plan to keep it. I'm seeing the movie on Friday, and I want to know as little about it as possible. I've never seen the original, so this is completely new to me.

The movie was very very good. I agree at sometimes it was scary, but not in the way or a horror movie. Suspense, action, good acting and dialouge. It had it all.

The ending just kind of happened, but it really wasn't that bad. Because the movie plays from their point of view, so by the end of the movie, we only know as much as the main characters do.

There's nothing wrong with the ending, but, like I said, the movie never addressed the biggest mystery from the beginning of the film. There has to be a sequel! I must know what happened to that bad *** Mustang of his!
