I finished my script...

I just finished a 85 page script for a film. It was like birthing a child, although I've never done that.

Any other writers out there like this? or, just post your birthing experiances...

Ywp, I feel your pain. I've re-written my script three times already. The last time was a complete plot over-haul! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] Right now I'm going through writers-block. Funny how writers-block works. Most people think it's where you can't find the words to write anything. But that's actually not what it is. You actually write all the time...you just think that everything you wright sucks. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

Uh, no... when I get writer's block I just can't think of anything else to write... I guess it sorta incorporates your feeling of writers block, but for the most part, I stop writing when I get writers block. The next time I start to write I can usually write for a good long while until I come up with a blank.

I had musical writer's block all winter, popped out one good song, then back to suckland. Finally finished a song this week that I've been working on since February. It's very unusual for my songs to take more than 5 minutes to write and this one definitely stands out. I think it's the most technical and difficult theory-wise, and so I'm very excited about it.

The last time I tried working on a script, I had a lot of energy, I had just got done watching The Apartment and I cranked out this really great monologue--just like the one that movie opens up with--and then it just kinda got cliche after that. Of course, the whole movie is cliche in itself, but my audience is only really the small campus of my small college in Smallville, USA. So it's not like they'll care if it's cliche or not. Just as long as it's well-made and relates to them, I don't think they'd criticize it too much. The film students like me would, but I'd be like, "Just wait...I've got better stuff up my sleeve..."

the situation was that this was a rewrite and expansion of a short film I already made for VERY low budget and in a very short amount of time. Someone liked the story enough to ask me to rewrite it and expand it to about a hour and a half.

The hardest thing is trying to expand things and give the story new life, but not just duplicate the lines and everything.

85 pages is long enough for a movie script?

Writer's block usually means Writing without feeling. and that's what makes it suck in your own view, the fact that it's so devoid it doesn't represent you anymore.

Monty Python and the holy grail is only 57 or so pages..so 85 is definitly enough.
