Opinions of last second shot of the Lakers Spurs game.

I think the Spurs got robbed of this one. There is no way Fisher could have gotten a shot in .4 seconds. Especially the way he did it, in which he caught it , pivoted, and pulled off a fadeaway. .4 of a second easily should have elapsed. In the time it takes me to say "time" .4 tenths of second is gone. I admit I really don't like the Lakers, but that doesn't have anything to do with it. the clock had to have been started late, and anyways the final buzzer regulation should surpass the "catch and shoot" rule. Opinions?

I hate the Lakers, but he got the shot off. You forget that, their is human error, and yes he probablly missed it by a tenth with the time it took the refs reacction time to press his button. But hey, human error is part of the game. Also in the NBA rule books it says .4 is scientifically enough to do a catch and shoot. Kings and Lakers WEST CONF FINALS!

Yeah I agree there is always human error but according to the officals he did get the shot off so I guess thats all that counts.

"Also in the NBA rule books it says .4 is scientifically enough to do a catch and shoot."

I thought it was .7 seconds for a catch and shoot...I could be wrong. I know it's .3 for a tip. I kind of find it hard to believe the difference between a tip and a catch and shoot is only .1 seconds.

Wait, you are right, it is .7

Doc River's said it was .4 in the rule book last night.

Well, the NBA has denied the Spur's protest. But I still think it was wrong.

I didn't see it, but I read that it was really close. They generally say that .6 is enough to catch and shoot if they guy is quick. I'd really have to see it to make a judgement. I'll look for it in tonights playoff coverage.

See, I could see him catch and shoot in .4 seconds. But he was able to take a step and then shoot, and I hardly doubt that you can do that in .4 seconds. Dana Barros when on Boston had to catch and shoot in MIDAIR from the 3 point line and barely got it off, and that was with .5 seconds.

Yeah, the guy controlling the time was probably jsut off a bit, but he did get the shot off.

I wanted teh spurs to win...

That red buzzer is controlled manually? I always thought it was automatically....either that or you are all Laker haters.
As Shaq said though, "One lucky shot deserves another."

it sounds immpossible to me, but I don't like basketball anyway.

That wasn't really the issue. It was when the clock started running that came into question.

There's still one more Lakers/Spurs game ..

Anyways .. the clock started when the ball touched his hand from the inbound pass (I saw the replay), and it was timed quite well .. so I don't think there's anything to argue.

I know what you mean, I especially like the 3 seconds half court shot Billups made. If it weren't for that shot, the game wouldn't have been sent into overtime.

As a San Diegan I'm required by law to despise any team from Los Angeles. Thus my support goes out to the Spurs/Kings.
