Okay, so as many of you know, there are sighting of undead dogs running about...which spawned a question to me.

If a Zombie crossed a Vampire, who would win?

P.S. This is a perfect oppurtunity to disscuss the ancient mythological senses of Vampires...I.E., different attributes they have (Such as turning into Wolfs, Bats, or even Bears in some cultures!) Post what you heard of and know.

Vampire.. zombies are dumb.

a vampire. cuz they are both dead, but vampires are more clever, plus they could suck all the blood outta the zombie (although most vampires dont like blood in something deceased) and like suck the zombie dry i'm sure causing ... death? haha well u know what I mean. but zombies are getting smarter. I dont know, zombies scare me, but vampires kick *** so imma go with the vampires winning

If you guys think this is an unfair match, ask a mod to add (or change) Zombies to something like Werewolves, Spectres, or anything you find scary...I feared no one liked teh Zombie

So... zombies, because someone has to vote for 'em, and because humans get overwhelmed so fast in these movies, it's simple math that vampires would too.

-Imagine trying to fight your way through 7,500,000,000 zombies (current population + number of people that probably died in the past however long is the cuttoff for zombification) if the only thing that keeps humans going (hope for sunrise) is lethal to you.

In a straight fight, a vampire would win, but the environment has to be right (no sunlight, garlic, wood stakes, or silver available). Vampires are faster and more intelligent than zombies, but far more vulnerable and easier to destroy. If the zombie picked up a wooden stake, it might just get lucky and stake the vampire, but it would not have the intelligence to plan for and anticipate attack or devise a strategy. The only way a zombie can fight is to stagger around aimlessly trying to hurt the vampire, and a vampire should be able to easily evade this kind of attack. Zombies are fairly durable, and often a head shot or complete dismemberment is the only way to take them down.

Sunlight is the only real problem... everything else is pretty useless unless the zombies have true faith. Which is unlikely.

Vampire vs. werewolf? Werewolf. If the vampire got lucky, she wouldn't stay lucky for long. It's not good to fight an anti-vampire group of tough gits.

Zombies are never alone...

Vampires. Duh.

Vampires. The zombie's main attack is its disease - which vampires are immune to. Vampires would be more agile, smarter, and potentially stronger. In addition, a vampire would have a plethora of the vampiric blood magic abilities attributed to them by the several myths concerning vampires. Zombies can go "uuurgh" and bite.

Vampire. Not only do they have the ability to shapeshift, they also have enhanced strength and agility, and can also heal their wounds rather quickly. Zombies, on the other hand, are slow, stupid, and quite frail. They only have numbers on their side, which is pretty useless when their prey is several times stronger than a normal human, and can just turn into a bat/mist/wolf/whatever and escape rather easily.

What do I like to KILL more? Zombies.

In a zombies versus vampire fight, vampires would obviously win.

This comes down to the age old response:

How many?

100 Zombies VS 1 Vampire would be an even match.

1 Zombie VS 100 Vampires would be silly.

Zombies are mindless, yet superhuman and live through a lot of damage.

Vampires are hard to kill, smart, cunning, and strong. Zombies aren't smart enough to kill a Vampire, considering all of the conditions that need to be met to kill one.

For Zombie vs. Vampire, it'd have to depend on the type of zombie =/ I mean, a Resident Evil zombie would have it's shambling *** handed to it, no problem.

This is a loaded poll.
To point some things out (some already have been):
- Both are already dead.
- Zombies spread their plague through blood, which the vampires will drink, thus making them more dead (?).
- Vampires are far to quick for zombies to catch.
- Zombies would have to stay indoors during the day for the fight to happen.
- Vampires can only be gotten rid of by a steak through the heart, daylight, or a boatload of holy water. How any zombie can be smart enough to figure this out is beyond me.

So, obviously the vampires would win.

zombies need to be in huge numbers to be useful, a single zombie is harmless to the majority of people, they're slow, lumbering, clumsy and dumb.

and direct damage to the brain kills a zombie.

a vampire in a zombie infested area would be screwed.

The point is that vampires are solitary creatures. Zombies pread like wildfire, and, depending on the mythos, spring up the moment someone dies (I've always prefered the "Radiation" thing or whatever it was in Night to all this plague nonsense in Dawn and 28 Days). So... would that make vampires zombies right away?
I dunno. I was trying to come up with a zombie campaign for DnD that would be more than just "Oooh, let's get to higher ground" or whatever it is that keeps the heroes trying to survive in these movies. I kept trying to answer this question about how you could have a world with Vampires and Zombies both... I dunno...
Again, there's the different kinds of zombies. There's, like, the Night of the Living Dead zombies and other traditional ones that are already dead and need to lose their heads to die and can't move very fast.... but after a certain amount of time, they begin to learn, and can command greater numbers of zombies...
Then, there's the "Zombies" in 28 Days Later, which are really just humans with their nervous sytems... wonky. So, they don't really count.
Then, there's the Dawn of the Dead remake zombies, who embody a little of everything in the other two kinds... I still don't know if they're dead, though...
This is to say nothing of the Deadites, the "Not gonna say the zed word" zombies in Shaun, the zombies in the "Return" series, or even the slaves in this world that are sometimes called zombies...
I still say Zombies, 'cause they WILL overwhelm whatever they come across.

I never got to see this movie, but I WANT to really bad... I heard it is horrible... if I saw the movie, I would vote... but as I have not seen it, I will remain in the middle....

I disagree. The cheerleader zombie from Land of the Dead was quite something.

As for the debate on zombies vs vampires, it really depends on the type of each as well as the infection factor. What if the virus/soul possessing/voodoo magic/legion of hell thingy majiggy had an effect on vampires and vice versa? Then there's the syntatical randomness involved. For example: A zombie could have a stake lodged in it's chest (sharp side out) and happens to stumble, lose it's footing and then land on a vamp, miraculously stabbing the vamp in a very fatal region. Kaput. Likewise, a no brainer vamp could pick up a shotgun purely by accident and in it's screaming and hissy fits could have squeezed the trigger purely by accident resulting with the zombie losing it's upper region purely by accident.

They did this in season 4 of Angel. The vampire won.

Really, though, the arch-undead is and always will be the Lich Lord. Absolutely nothing can compare to the Undead Necromancer - the immortal lord of all dead, including himself.

an undead creature is powerful but one of satans own close personal friends is gonna give them a serious run for their money.

i voted zombies just because zombies never travel alone they always travel in packs therefore a pack of zombies would kill a vamp

Okay. Someone explain to me how even a pack of zombies can kill a vampire? A vampire can't die by being ripped apart and eaten. Somehow it will come back, or just turn into mist or a bat if things get tense. The only ways to kill a vampire are steak through the heart, sunlight, or holy water. I seriously doubt that ANY zombie (including Bub) could ever figure this out.

depends on a number of things...can the zombies be killed? are we talking "Dawn of the Dead" zombies or "Return of the Living Dead" zombies? if they can be killed, I would say vampires... simply because zombies arn't smart enough to put a stake through a vampire's heart... and a vampire would be smart enough to figure out the "shoot them int he head" thing.... if the zombies CAN'T be killed ala return of the living dead... then I would vote zombies.. cause they would be eternal... and i am sure that a vampire might accidently walk into sunlight at one point and die before the zombie ever would..
