Just out of curiosity, did anyone else watch it? Venus Williams won.

I saw it. I wanted the other racket-swinger-tennis-person-player to win. I was bitterly dissapointed.:(

Her name was Davenport, wasn't it?

Man, hats off to Venus - true champ. Although I was secretely rooting for Sharapova throughout the tournament

Yeah, I wanted L.Davenport to win as well. I say the Williams sisters have overstayed their 15 minutes of fame.

Wtf is up with that Wimbledon Cup, anyhow? It looks like a pimped-out hubcap.

That made me laugh.

Yeah, I think the judges favored Venus. Like that shot they called fair that wasn't, Those jerks.

[edit] That was sarcasm, btw. . . . . . . . But the call was still unfair.

I really dislike the Williams Sisters' serve and volley tactics; it's bad enough in the men's game without it encroaching into the women's.

Players like Agassi who play from the back are far more interesting to watch, there are decent rallies.

I think this one was interesting because now there's an answer against it. The Williamses (?) had an edge because of sheer muscle power and lame serve and volley, but it's starting to kick em in the *** - they're having a tough time against the new Russian generation, and people are starting to see through it. That's for the better I think.

I just dislike the way Venus screams every time she hits the goddamn ball.

Hehe... I'm serious, though. There were quite a few times I wanted to turn off the TV because she was really pissing me off.

Go Venus.

I didn't get to watch it though.

I prefer net action, up close and personal, when playing. It is also fun to watch.

Net action is all well and good if there's two people up there and it's all about reflexes - the problem is when there's one player on the base line who's just returned a beast of a serve and the player who delivered it is at the net volleying it away to the other side of the court: it's boring.

But anyway, yeah, the grunting is a little bit disturbing I must admit.

They're top players in the world. Just because they are flashier and have more personality than most players doesn't mean they aren't top tennis players.

As for the trophy, it's a plate.

Eh, all she has to do is stand there, really. And maybe bend over a little...
