I've had to fix a lot of crap for people that's gotten through Firefox for quite a few months now.

Just further reinforces the fact that common sense is the best defense.

Hear. And please do. For all eternity.

That actually looks like it came from a MIME emulator, Kyle. Don't forget--viruses can come from downloaded files too :p. Also what virus detector are you using?

Emulating email headers? lol

Or are we emulating the process of encoding binary files into ascii, heh?

For some reason I confused MIME and MAME for a second.

Nevermind then.

Um, Firefox is only less likely to get you a virus because it blocks popups, has no ActiveX component support, etc. You are just as likely to download a virus when surfing for porn or warez.

Seriously folks...this is like people saying "wtf my firewall didn't stop teh virus!"

And anyone using IE these days should have no problems with either of these, assuming they have common sense of course (and know how to say no to a nice yellow prompt bar).

It's all just about common sense, no computer is secure with software alone if the operators don't take care over what they allow onto the machine.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the most unsecure vunlerability for any computer, in most cases, lies between the keyboard and the chair.

I've gotten a virus from a website while using Firefox. I'll always feel unsafe while using it as a result, just like I did with IE. :(

Turn off Java and ignore most flash stuff and really, it's nigh impossible to get a virus from a site.

I got lots of pop-up **** / viruses with IE on Win98SE but now that I use Firefox and WinXP that isn't the case. I also have Norton Internet Security running behind it, but it isn't a necessity. I don't download much and don't visit any potentially dangerous sites, i.e. warez or porno land.
