Star Wars Font?
2004-05-14, 6:00 PM #1
I'm just curious about this. Is there a place I can find it? What's it called? Any history?

I'm talking about the one you see on the signs and the monitors and everywhere else. It appears to me that it's the written form of star-wars basic, but I could be wrong.

The reason is I'm doing a project for myself, and I'm very interested to hear what you people know about this.

Yes, I know I could have searched. I figured, though, that on a star-wars game fansite, I could probably collect a much larger amount of information in a lesser amount of time. Besides that, it's a perfect oppourtunity to flex your geek-muscle.

Thanks. Is it a real language, or was it invented for the movies?

More info on my project, I guess. Me and my girlfriend are doing a huge mural before we leave seattle. I wanted to do a different one, though, in a very nar-shadaa kind of way. I was going to paint a hallway like the ones from the cinemas in JK, and planned on writing our names in aurek-besh, I guess.

While the original mural is happening for sure, the star-warsy part may not. But if it does, I'll be sure to get pictures up for everyone [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]. Hell, I'll post the address so anyone who's in the area (Like Brian =-O) can go take a gander.

heh, I said gander

Aurek-besh is just English with different letters. And in Star Wars, English is called Galactic Basic.

There are many, many Star Wars fonts of all kinds. Massassian fonts, Ewok fonts, Jedi and Sith fonts...Just search for them.

I think the correct term for it is Aurebesh.

I've only heard the name as aurebesh. Is this what you mean?

I've found, through my research (thanks guys), that aurabesh and aurek-besh are slighty variants of each other, or something.
