I found this on accident looking at a preview of upcoming games, including anachronox, deus ex, any many others. (it was an old webpage)

PCGamer got it right when they said that Max has a face that looks like a bulldog licking piss off stinging nettles.

Q. How many testers does it take to change a light bulb?
A. We just noticed the room was dark; we don't actually fix the problems.

I've seen a lot of early shots of Max Payne...the ones where Valkyr turns the bad guys into mutants are the most terrifying.

He looks like he's gonna kill someone.

The first link doesn't seem to work, but I have some old finnish gaming magazine with lots of early Max Payne pics. The game was quite different back then in a sense, it would have been interesting to see how MP like that would have turned out.

The first link wasn't working for me until a minute ago. I've posted a mirror:

He looks like a pimp out looking for his hoe.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I want to some from Deus Ex. Does it look much different?

It's interesting what was planned into that game, but never made it in. IE: Tong's lab was supposed to be on the water with windmills and stuff, and there was supposed to be a space station level.

Some how that looks like crap, the other Max Payne games look realer.

Slightly off topic, but has anyone tried playing the Mission Impossible New Dawn mod for Max Payne 2 yet?

My friend has a magazine with early devolopement shots of Half-Life!!!! It looks WAY worse than the one that was originally actually released. And Gordon Freeman had a full-fledged beard instead of a goatee.

In the opening video for the first Splinter Cell it looks as if they might have been planning on giving Sam a goatee. It was scary ugly.

A lot of stuff were cut off... including street fighting on Austin, all the Russo-Mexican Alliance involved missions, some mountain (Mt. Weather, I think) where Daedalus was located, the Moon mission (involving some crazy AI called Ada... hmm, a crazy AI in space... anyhow, most of the archi in the Area 51 levels actually are from the Moon mission, but since the mission was cut they reused them there), London, post-earthquake sunken L.A, Syberia (that or some other place where some nuclear test failed... you can read about that on some datacubes ingame) and raids to... uh, concentration camps to free prisoners from UN/MJ12 troops.

Also, on the Vandenberg mission there would have been some clan fighting involved, Raiders and Salvagers, but then they were replaced by X-51 and MJ12. There would have been useless love story between Tiffany Savage and Ned Strong (the son of that Howard Strong in the lowest level of the mission silo) and something else.

As well as endings where you join Bob Page & die were planned.

So, yeah, a lot of stuff was cut. But, alot of stuff was changed in the process (like the hacking process, it was more DOS-like in the past).

But here's some nice & early art:

They cut all that out?? Sounds like it would've made the game a good 25% longer...games are always better when longer...
