If it were Osama, maybe. But Saddam was never a direct threat to the U.S. I forsee a possible smear campaign against the Bush administration for all their lies and for misleading the people. Though, of late, I have found the ignorance in the U.S. to be very sad...

Bush didn't need to capture Hussein to win the election. The Democrats are giving him all the help he needs on that.

Too bad draw and quartering isn't allowed anymore.

When I see those pictures, I feel sorry for him. And I'm angered by that feeling.

I don't believe this is Saddam 100% until the DNA tests(not just the results) have been released to the public.

They do know he has lookalikes, they have done several physical comparisons and DNA tests to CONFIRM he -is- Saddam.

He was cowering in a basement of a farm house and he looks like crap. Compared to what he brought to Iraq he was living grandly. Now justice will be carried out for those who had no chance of getting it done.

I don't care about peoples' opinions of Bush or how they look on the U.S., this is one of the greatest Christmas gifts that anyone could give. So anyone who has to slander the U.S. in a discussion about the capturing of a mass murderer, just stifle for awhile. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif]

Funny thing is, now that he's in U.S. custody, he's living about 100x better.. (well, physically, at least, [unless they're torchering him or something..]).

Could they use the DNA from his family? They have the bodies of his sons.

DNA information can be collected from a strand of hair. They DO know where he lived when still in power.

The Clash - The Guns of Brixton

When they kick at your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun

When the law break in
How you gonna go?
Shot down on the pavement
Or waiting on death row

You can crush us
You can bruise us
But you'll have to answer to
Oh, the guns of Brixton

The money feels good
And your life you like it well
But surely your time will come
As in heaven, as in hell

You see, he feels like Ivan
Born under the Brixton sun
His game is called survivin'
At the end of the harder they come

You know it means no mercy
They caught him with a gun
No need for the Black Maria
Goodbye to the Brixton sun

You can crush us
You can bruise us
But you'll have to answer to
Oh, the guns of Brixton

When they kick at your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun

You can crush us
You can bruise us
Yes, even shoot us
But oh-the guns of Brixton

Shot down on the pavement
Waiting in death row
His game is called survivin'
As in heaven as in hell

You can crush us
You can bruise us
But you'll have to answer to
Oh, the guns of Brixton (x5 to fade)

I look at the pictures and feel sorry for him too. It looks like he suffered in his hiding spot and he likely has a lot of suffering to come. But that feeling doesn't make me angry... regardless of whose suffering it is, it's still suffering.

Revenge is just weird. If something is wrong the correct response, in my opinion, is to resolve the situation, not to reverse it. Preventing him from harming other people seems like a wise course of action, but is harming him also necessary?

I'll probably get flamed for that so er.. I really meant.. Bomb them, bomb them all. Then drop gas on them. Freedom forever. Etc.

I think it was some retired U.S. CIA or military figure that pointed out that Saddam has been living a rather flourished life for a long time. He has everyone doing everything for him, has all sorts of goods. He said it probably lost his backbone a long time ago, and on top of that, he's been hiding in holes for the past nine months or something. So of course he wouldn't fight back.

You know, whatever punishment he gets at the hands of his judges(whom I think should be the Iraqi people) will be nothing compared to the punishment we've indirectly imposed on him for the last 7-9 months. Think about, he went from living in luxurious palaces to living in a hole under a shack. I personally like to call it poetic justice.

Oh, and **** the Hague. Since this war had little international support, the international community, for the most part, has no say in what happens to Saddam. The only people that should be involved are the Kuwaitis, the Iranians, the Iraqis, and the Iraqi exiles. Ooohh, and don't forget the Kurds. I'm sure they'll have lots of fun with ol' Saddam.

EDIT: Not trying to offend anyone here, just my opinion. :EDIT

Here’s my theory: the bush administration has many friends in the oil business. Bush starts war. Friends get more money. Saddam get captured. News covers it. War ends...?

Personally, I'm tired of the news. I’m gonna go watch Star Wars.
