so, i opened farcry, and was setting the video settings to... quite high, to see how far my system would go. When I pressed 'apply' the screen blacked out (as usual), but then it exitted the program, and every time i have tried to open it since then it starts to open, then stops altogether.

I tried to open the cfg file in the farcry directory and lower the settings manually, but not sure which ones to mess with.


any ideas?

Oddly enough, this exact problem has been occuring with Savage for me, although i didn't fool around with the video settings. i tried reinstalling. anyone have any ideas for that?

i'm sure that somehow or other, i just raised the specs to the point where my system couldn't handle it, and was thus unable to open the game... because it couldn't render the background video or something... i tried setting the background video parameter from 1 to 0 in the cfg file, but no luck.

Try just deleting the config file. If that doesn't work, THEN reinstall. Uninstall first and make sure it deleted your config.

Far Cry installs a config utility OUTSIDE of the actual game, try running that.
