No wonder it took him so long for this one.

Yeah...

Oh my god he is so right about this annoying text hyperlinks sentances.

Who the heck is this Maddox Guy anyway?
2005-07-07, 7:29 PM #5
Some guy in Utah that hates the world. Even though some of the things he list he hates isn't true, and he actually likes. But that's not really funny, now is it?
2005-07-07, 7:38 PM #6
Hehe, good old Maddox can always bring a smile to my face.
2005-07-07, 8:29 PM #7
This did read as a tad too worn out, but he still creates a gem every so often. I loved the Cameron Diaz piece *Language Warning again*

o come on that was classic! I don't think hes trying hard at all, that being one of his longer pieces, we sre did wait for it. He is so right on with that rant about the whole new blog scene and emo trends along with metrosexual.

I hate Maddox and I'm sticking too it. The only thing I remotely though was funny was his Tom Clancy Plot Generator. That's it. His other stuff is the same over and over. All it is is him swearing, and thinking it's funny.

You guys are just saying he tries to hard because he knocks your fancy schmancy blogs. But in definition, isn't his site kind of a personal I hate things blog? Hahaha.
2005-07-07, 10:24 PM #11
yeah but hes been doing it since 1997 so like somehow hes grandfathered out... i think?

That's the first one I read that didn't crack me up.

I think he's still going strong.

I thought it was pretty lame, but most of maddox's stuff is.

Maddox is neither big nor clever. It is certainly not that funny.

That said, what he wrote about blogs before his 'article' descended into drivel does quite succintly describe a great deal of the blogs I've come across on msn spaces... a pile of unintelligible, uninteresting poo.

My blog is aimed at keeping in touch with my uni mates without having to email them, and sometimes making people smile.

I didn't think it was funny, but I liked this:

Emo: An abbreviation for loser. Emo is the new goth, except goths are still around, so it's becoming almost unbearable.

I <3 Maddox.

I have read most of his articles, not the one posted on this thread yet though.

Let's see a site where someone just *****es about whatever is going on in the world and giving their own asinine opinion because they are pretentious and self-righteous is a blogger. That would make Maddox a blogger too.

Ok, some of you guys take his stuff way to seriously, he says himself that his site is a joke. Lighten up a little bit.

I admit that some of his stuff isn't funny, and some of it is even downright insulting to me too, but all you have to do is remember that very little of what he says he doesn't really care about. I mean, do you think he really wants to mow down hippys, old people, and goths while eating the worlds supply of beef jerky marinated in a few gallons of tobasco sauce? It's all a big joke.

[EDIT]Almost forgot, [/flamebait]. Thank you.[/EDIT]

Maddox owns. This latest article is great. I would have to say that the "I'm better than your kids 1 and 2" are the best though. :)

Feh, i'd like to see how many Emo bands you can actually name.

Its not a bad genre if you actually know anything about its history (It started as just another name for Hardcore punk.) But its contemporary existance as a cultural movement is aweful.

What I find funny is his website is a blog.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Morrisey invented Emo and you know it!

I mean, look at The Smiths.

Horrible yet supposedly meaningful lyrics that are whiny?

IT SCREAMS EMO!

You know.. I'm kidding, right?

First of all, The Smiths are excellent. :)

Second of all...

Um.

Third of all, yeah, nothing to do with Emo.

Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, Atreyu, Yellowcard, Hot Hot Heat, Good Charlotte (okay pop punk, but close enough).

Need I go on? Emo still sucks.

I'd like to argue that all of those but one or two are NOT at all emo. Thankyouverymuch.

Actually, all of them except ONE are emo. Thankyouverymuch.

Aren't Yellowcard and GoodCharlet just crappy punk? (Is there any other?)
Think while it's still legal.

Thursday is emo. Some would call Taking Back Sunday emo. I don't see how you get emo out of Atreyu. I could MAYBE see screamo, but not emo. It's really more heavy rock. Yellowcard is pop punk with a violin. I haven't heard Hot Hot Heat. And Good Charlotte....I can't even begin to imagine why you would call them emo.

I said Pop Punk :p

Atreyu is VERY screamo (which I consider emo), Yellowcard...dude they're extremely emo. They sound upbeat, but listen to their lyrics. Hot Hot Heat is quite emo-licious.

Up beat with sad lyrics is not what is in Emo's pedigree. Emo came from the DC Hardcore scene; Rites of Spring was the first ever Emo band; the concept came from Hardcore: Emo in full is called "Emocore" and pretty much just meant emotional hardcore music. There are hints of Emo in Fugazi, but the first band to really shape the genre into what it sounds like today is Sunny Day Real Estate, who were pretty much the first band to incorporate progressive-rock elements.

Hot Hot Heat is just more new-wave/post-punk revivalist stuff. One or two of the bands that you listen to have probably listened to a lot of Sunny Day Real Estate, but in reality they aren't Emo.

There are Emo kids, sure, but their music has almost nothing to do with actual Emo.

This is ironic. Technically, isnt Maddox's website itself a blog? It sure seems a lot like a blog to me.

I think Maddox has recently run out of ideas. That would explain why he doesn't update much, and why his recent pages have sucked (Ben Stiller page = lame).

I think Maddox lives in his mom's basement.
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.
