Wisdom teeth

Has anyone else gotten their wisdom teeth out at least vaguely recently? I got all four of my impacted wisdom teeth hacked out today, and it hurts like a ***** even through the pain killers.

Hah, every nurse that's ever taken blood from me has commented that I have good veins. To each I've responded that I'll keep that in mind if I ever happen to decide to become a heroin addicted hobo later in life. I love the looks I get, they're hilarious.

I feel like a freaking chipmunk with sausage lips. The gauze in my mouth is puffing out my cheeks and I can't feel my sausage lips. In fact, right now I'm putting on chapstick and I'm pretty sure I've just got it all over my face. Whoops.

I remember waking up something like 4 times during my operation, but I don't remember any pain or anything because I slept for almost 2 days afterwards. I only woke up to change the gause and take the meds.

They plan to remove my wisdom teeth sometime this summer or around Thanksgiving. :(

Waking up during an operation is one of those irrational fears of mine that gets into a full-blown panic attack whenever I have a serious surgury.

The fact that I went into the operation going on 3 hours of sleep and no coffee probably helped, hah.

I've been needing to get mine taken out for years now, but I keep putting it off (mainly due to lack of insurance). I have insurance now, and will have to get it done. I'm not looking forward to it, but it can't be any worse than the migranes and infections that I've been dealing with in the meantime.

Never got mine out.

Pardon my ignorance, but why must one remove them?

Because.

Yeah. That stuff hurts. Don't accidentally take too many painkillers, though. You'll get hallucinogenic, trust me.

I was told if there's not enough room for them and you leave them in long term, there's a high chance of infection and possibly tumors. Or something like that. I don't know.

Yeah, Da_Roosta, I know. I accidentally misread the dosage on some pain killers a long time ago and it wasn't fun at all.

Hmm, when I got my wisdom teeth out and took too many painkillers, and didn't get any hallicinations at all. I just woke up the next day with no memory of anything that had happened after I took them.

just got mine out the end of June. I hardly felt any excruciatiang pain, but my cheeks were very swelled, and I had a bruise for about 2 weeks on my right cheek.

I only have 2 wisdom teeth, and so far they are fine.

The funny thing is, mine actually fixed my teeth.

They were all impacted (tilted toward the rest of my teeth and putting pressure on them) and it completely closed the gap I had between my front teeth. Wee, free insta-braces.

I passed out due to blood loss. Don't do that.

To stop the bleeding if it just gets way too bad, stuff a tea bag in each side of your mouth instead of the gauze. Worked like a charm.

edit: I also woke up once during the operation that I remember. I woke up to the dentist hanging over my mouth yanking on my tooth, then hearing it crack in half. I was out after that.

So how do you know you didn't hallucinate if you don't remember? :p

Hah, personally I find hallucinations hilarious. I've never got hallucinations by taking too many pain killers, I just got extremely ill. Though, I remember when I was a kid I had strep and was running a high fever. I woke up in the middle of the night to tell my mum something and went and had a, literally, five minute long conversation with a large plant until my real mum came up behind me and asked what the **** I was doing.

I had mine out about the same time as you but luckily for me I had very little swelling(you had to look closely to notice it) and didn't have too much pain. The only thing that bothered me was the stitches and I tried to avoid thinking about them.
No sig.

In my case, they could smash into my other teeth, ruining the work of my orthodontist.

Hehehe... once I hallucinated from lack of sleep - my dad was driving me home from somewhere, and I thought the road cone on the shoulder was a person walking out onto the road. I was about to warn my dad not to hit the dude on the road when I realized it was just a cone.

I had my wisdoms taken out back in May. Its not a fun experience. The surgery obvious was fine but the whole part of soaking up all the blood and the horrible pain in the gums was not a fun party. It took me a day or two to recover from the pain. It didn't help that the medication to null the pain made me nausea because I took them on an empty stomach (I would had eaten something if my mouth was in such pain!) so that just added to the painful experience. Thankfully, after eating podding for about a week, my gums started to get better to the point where I could eat hard foods again.

I had mine out last year. It was hell.

Tip: avoid hard liquor when you have holes in your mouth. I tried some vodka a week later after the procedure--- bad idea.

All four of mine grew in perfectly.
