If you could be one literary character...
2005-07-10, 9:38 PM #1
...who would it be? Post the name, and your reasoning behind it. Any character out of a work of fiction is fair game.

Personally, I would have to say the Gunslinger (real name Roland of Gilead ), from Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. Though he may seem simple on the surface, he's an incredibly complex character. Hard as nails, smart, and has an undeniable cool factor.

Either Richard Mayhew (Richardrichardmayhewdick) from Neverwhere or any of the various Magician/Sorceress class characters from the Xanth series.

Except for Magician Murphy or Bink. Having a passive talent would be lame.

I thought about it long and hard and Tasslehoff Burrfoot from Dragonlance it is.

No doubts about it.

There's my answer.

Hmmm.....

I'd have to say either Martin Arrowsmith from Sinclair Lewis' Arrowsmith, or Newt from Kurt Vonnegut's Long Walk to Forever (one of the short stories from Welcome to the Monkey House). Of course, I can't rule out Weedon Scott from Jack London's White Fang either. It'd be a tough choice for me.

Jonas from The Giver.
Think while it's still legal.

Hiro Protagonist, from Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. He's got a cool name, a katana, and (was) a pizza delivery guy. What's not to like?

Kyle Katarn from the JK book.:D

*looks at The Gunslinger piled beneath other books*

I have to pick that up again. I got mid-way then I forgot about it. It was getting good too. :(

Hmm...I'll have to get back to you on the character.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Then I *get* people's palace, command a huge army, can wipe out huge armies with anger alone, and can take out a lot of peoples with just a sword.

and JC denton is part of a fictional game, so I think he'd be one.
