A. Its still a free forum with absolutely no purpose.
B. Either I have to register to view all the forums, or the only forum there is "Guidelines". Either way, BAD IDEA.
C. What posessed you to make a forum, without a website? There's no content, no drive, no REASON to visit your forums! When people visit a forum, its because they want to discuss something they saw interesting on that website.

Koobie's forums fall under A. and C., also.

eh, actually my forum *has* a purpose. it's basically the testing grounds for artistic collabs. also, all things art + webdesign. the idea was to create a community of people interested in words and visuals. next time - look. cheers.

A. I did look, and since there is no content, there is no draw.
B. A website with a system like deviantart would be much more condusive. Allow people to have their own organized portfolios to share, and such. A forum does not do this well at all, since threads will disappear at the bottom of the listing, never to be touched again.
C. You don't just "create" a community around a forum, a forum is created around a community.

I think there is an excuse for that one, it's what many programmers call "Proof of Concept". In other words, he is saying:

HA! I am able to make my own forums completely from scratch, and here is the proof!

But the fact that it is still there is lame :D

Well I'm not done making it. :p Currently I'm rewriting everything into classes, so then .PHP skins can simply use these classes to fill themselves with content.

Maybe it's just me, but I think you're going a little overboard with the number of smilies you can use in a post. And also, no inappropriate language, but you give us a list of cuss words we can use. Then, last but not least, you can say S*** but not D***? I always throught S was worse. Anyway, peace out.

Or go to webmonkey.com and w3schools.org and teach yourself HTML, FOR FREE.

Plus flash sites suck, even the one at that site. Even after the flash loads, you gotta wait for all the damn little animations to happen before you can proceed to a different website.

Man those people don't know how to make a website.

A) It looks ugly as hell
and B) it's nowhere close to being valid HTML4 let alone XHTML. Infact it looks like they've used MS word or something to create the page.

Well, at least you wrote it yourself, that's a step.

Now all you need to do is clean it up majorly, follow the standards correctly (you don't even have <html> and <body> tags, BAD BAD), and have something worth reading on it, and you're ready to go :p

I've read the html tutorials but forms are bloody annoying. I want a code that you get asked some questions and then when you press submit it sends an email to you with the data you supplied for eg..

Yeah, according to that script, you are using an ASP script to process the information. You have to have a webserver that supports ASP, and you have to have that script installed.

cjb.net is horrible.

Go to freedns.afraid.org and set up a web forward. Theres a load of domains on there (including one of mine :p) to choose from and you can set up a subdomain to point to your site.

see below in my sig for the ones I've made, well bar rbots which I look/looked after (need to upload the new versions so that the Rbots site actually works...

I've put forums on the PsiStar one, phpBB, best free ones out there, done some customizing in respect to the header's/footers and some of the more basic stuff, still playing around really...theres over 1000 blasted variables in the default style and I'm not starting from scratch...

if you are going to have forums make sure they have a reason and content to go with it. Both the sites I've built I've spent a lot of time making sure the pages are all valid by the w3c and are useful (to some extent)

btw, I don't want to hijact the thread but if anyone has any feedback feel free to mention it, plus hows the main page on PsiStar, not too busy with google, amazon and the bbc on there??or is it?
