Wasn't sure if this should go here or the music forum, but I've been looking for some really good choir music. Stuff that's big and epic, or really sad, all that stuff. By choir I don't mean like, a church choir, I mean like the kinds of choirs that are in LotR, or Star Wars, or some of the war movies out there.

So, any suggestions?

there's Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber and I'm sure there are choir versions. I think it's used a lot and it was in that Vietnam War movie "Platoon". I think I saw some space war game trailer with a choir version in the background a long time ago

"I wonder to myself. Why? Simply why? Why why? Why do I ask why? Why do I need to find out why? Why do I have to ask why as a question? Why is why always used to find out why? Why is the answer to why always why? Why is there no final answer to why? Simply why not? Holy cow, this is pretty deep, meaningful **** I wrote. Glad I wrote it down. Oh man."

E.S. Posthumus. They did the movie trailer music for LotR (I think), Master and Commander, and a few other major movies. Quite epic sounding.

Some of this might be stating the obvious:

Duel of the Fates from the Star Wars Ep1 soundtrack
O Fortuna from Carmina Burana.
Verdi's Requiem.
O Verona from the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet.
Last of the Mohicans soundtrack in general is fairly good for that sort of stuff, in particular Promentory.
Try and get hold of the remix of the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack that was used for the trailer for LotR:TT, no choral singing but damn powerful.

Church choirs, especially in foreign languages, can produce some beautiful music. I'd recommend poking around Magnatune and seeing what you can find: http://magnatune.com/genres/classical/

I listened to Asteria for a bit too and they're really good, but not terribly epic.

The theme from the move "Hunt for the Red October" it's in russian, and epic, and sad, and beautiful, all at the same time.
Laughing at my spelling herts my feelings. Well laughing is fine actully, but posting about it is not.
