Good stuff right there.

Wuhhh? Pre-played they are more?
2005-07-13, 12:04 PM #4
Whoa! Bizarre...
Though I saw the same thing once on GameStop.com -- a game cost more for a used copy than it did a new one... but only by a couple bucks, not 10!
May the mass times acceleration be with you.

My friend's got a birthday in September, and he's a huge MGS fan. Why not?

Better hurry before EB finds out they goofed :p

Meh, I got MGS3 for £1. Thats right, one pound, brand new, first week out!
nope.
2005-07-13, 12:50 PM #8
Metroid Prime 2. Damn, time to order another game from EB.
2005-07-13, 12:51 PM #9
I <3 EBGames before you did.
2005-07-13, 1:06 PM #10
They just took Metroid down, so it must've been a pricing error. I got my order in before-hand though. Now to see if they honor it or don't (probably won't).
2005-07-13, 1:09 PM #11
Might have been an "X hour internet sale" or something.
Pissed Off?
2005-07-13, 1:10 PM #12
Yeah, or a one day sale until we run out of stock kind of thing. I know EB on occasion does that, but I usually miss em. MGS3 is still up so that makes me think it may have not been an error. I dunno. Hope I get mine. $40 for two great games I ordered in the last two days (X-men Legends and MP2).
2005-07-13, 1:31 PM #13
The price for MGS3 might have gone down because of Subsistence.
2005-07-13, 1:33 PM #14
It might, but not THAT much.
2005-07-13, 1:36 PM #15
Yeah, it wouldn't have dropped down to $15 like that.

It's still up though, so may be a sale and not an error and it's just still in stock (cause I imagine if they found an error, they would've taken both down at the same time).

I know that if it's the UK they don't - I got caught out this way before. Apparently you can shove a pricetag for say... £1 on an item and then ask for £1million when someone wants to pay for it. Apparently that's legal...

Thats odd, because I went to go buy a brand new dvd before [all but this one had £15 on it] and i saw one for £3 because they put the wrong sticker on it. When I went up to the till they said they had to give it to me for £3 as that was the price they had placed on it.
nope.
2005-07-13, 4:25 PM #18
I've never had anyone try to force a price on me on something that was a price error. They always either honor it or send a customer service email explaining the error and that they cancelled the order. Sometimes places give small store credit and coupons for the "trouble" (even though really you're the one giving them the trouble, heh).

But I don't think this was in error, cause MGS3 is still up and my order for Metroid is still there.

I saw NVN and the expansion as dvds together for $25. I was so excited. When I got up to the register they tried to make me pay $45 for it. I suppose it's different if it's online though. They can't just say "we stuck the wrong price tag on it".
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

Lol, I was at Best Buy and I was looking at Doom 3. They had some boxes that said $54.99, some that said $49.99, and others that said $39.99. I was like, wow Doom 3 went down to $40, thats new. Then I noticed that on the shelf, it said that it was $19.99 and the expansion was $14.99. I was amazed. For a game and expansion that just came out, that is a really good deal.

It's only a good deal if it's a good game. Which it's not.

Not true. When I worked at Game we were told that if you put the wrong price on somethinig, the shop has to honour it, hence being very careful about pricetags.

As for the thing where the new games cost less than the preowned ones - when Game buy a used game from someone, they'll generally give about 1/3 of the retail price to the owner (if it's a newish/decent game, otherwise you get barely anything) then sell for 1/2 - 2/3 retail price. But every now and then you get sales on stuff so the retail price drops below the amount that the shop paid for the preowned. They won't drop the preowned prices below a certain level because then they'd be making a loss.

Or somethinig like that, it's been a while since I worked there.

I once picked up a copy of Amped for $4.99.

:D

MGS3 is still in stock and still $15, heh. My copy of Metroid shipped today. Gonna have to figure out where I boxed up all my Gamecube stuff now.
