Dark Water

So I saw "The Ring." I thought, "Wow. This movie really sucks. It's really overrated."

Then I saw the American version of "The Grudge." I thought, "Wow. This movie really sucks. It's really overrated."

Then I saw the Japanese version of "The Grudge." I thought, "Wow. This movie really sucks. It's really overrated."

Then I saw ads for "Dark Water." I thought, "Wow. That movie looks like it's going to suck. It'll be really overrated."

But then I thought, "I can see it for free. Surely it's worth that much."

Whoa, was I wrong.

I can't stop rolling at how hilariously bad this movie is. I'll put the major plot elements in a spoiler b...nah, forget it. For those of you who can't guess it, here's the big plot elements:

  • There's a girl
  • Something bad happened concerning her parents
  • Now she's haunting a place
  • There's water involved
  • The mother plays a key role in the movie

Surprise, surprise. The movie had at least five endings. It could have ended when they found the body of the dead girl in the water reserve , but then I thought, "Oh-ho. This is the guy who made The Ring. Finding her body won't solve a thing. "

Wouldn't you know it, but I was right!

The characters in the movie were so hurried to get to the credits that they actually ran a stop-sign on-screen just to get out of the movie.

Ghost movies are getting old.

Since you seem to hate The Ring and The Grudge, which happen to be 2 of the scariest movies I've ever seen, I'm guessing that I'll probably enjoy Dark Water as well.

The Ring wasn't scary at all. The only redeemable quality of it is the cinematography (IMO.)

All those movies, in my opinion, did suck. They do not scare or strike a nervous trigger of fear.

All in all though, I havn't seen a scary movie in a really long, long time.

I'm sorry but 13-15 year old girls climbing out of a well dosn't seem scary to me. Neither does ripping a body into peices. What's scary is actually real things. Movies can't do it anymore...

I liked The Ring, but I definitely didn't think it was scary. I didn't see The Grudge, because it seemed like a shallow movie, just trying to ride The Ring's success. I was later told that it sucked royally. I never saw The Ring 2, but I heard it was bad. I'll rent it, or catch it on TV.

I've liked Jennifer Connelly since I saw A Beautiful Mind, but her alone won't get me to see this movie, which sits somewhere between The Ring and The Grudge with me.

I'd have to agree that The Ring 2 was horrible. I'm not saying that these movies were so scary that I couldn't sleep for a week, but they were definitely some of the scariest movies that I've ever seen. I'm not much into horror films, but I'd like to hear what movies you folks think are scarier. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, House of 1000 Corpses, The Ring, and The Grudge are probably the scariest movies I've seen, period.

I wouldn't say I've ever seen a movie I would define as "scary," because in the end, they're just movies, and you know they're fake.

I kind of take back what I said. That movie didn't scare me, but it sure did creep me out a bit.
