Now, I need some good games for it (preferably with split-scren multiplayer). I got Simpsons Hit & Run, and I'm looking to pick up some other games as well. What are your recommendations?

Timesplitters 1 & 2 are awesome. Both have map editing capabilities, as well. IMO they're one of the best split-screen FPS out.

NFS:U is good if you like car games.

My ps2 broke a long time ago, so I'm not so up-to-date on more current games.

Most of the others were mentioned, but I'll mention Onimusha 1-3 and the new 007 Game.

The only split-screen multiplayer PS2 game I play is Gran Turismo 3, which is well worth the Platinum price if you like driving games.

Apart from that:

Prince of Persia if you like 3D platform games
FIFA 2003 if you're a sports fan
Metal Gear Solid 2 if you like the whole stealth / combat thing
Soul Calibur 2 if you like fighting games
LotR: Return of the King is great if you like Lord of the Rings and have a friend to play it with

No way! The off-the-ball plays suck, and the game is considerably slower than 2003. Updated rosters are nice, though... Damn you PS2!

I'd also recommend

007: Everything or Nothing for co-op
S.W.A.T. for co-op
Half-Life (rent it) for co-op

Jedi Starfighter has split screen. And its pretty good. And I second all the others said.

Pretty much what everyone else said (barring Timesplitters -_-) and Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven. The Dark Alliance games are great fun the first few times round, especially on Co-Op, but I didn't find much in the way of replayability (secret characters were nice though).

Burnout 1 & 2 (soon to be 3)
NFS:U
NFS:HP2

The Tenshu games are all excellent. Final Fantasies (all of them) are ESSENTIAL. Soul Calibur is great for multiplayer fighting. Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid 2 cover the action/stealth bases. I myself plan to pick up TimeSplitters 2 at some point. Return of the King for sure if you are a Lord of the Rings fan.

Unless a FPS is a console exclusive, I would usually reccomend getting it for a PC because of its moding capabilities.

Everyone pretty much mentioned the games I would reccomend. If you want a really good sim soccer game, I heard the Winning Eleven series is the best (super tough to score goals).

Gitaroo Man. Trust me on this one. It's originally Japanese (translated into English, of course), a little quirky, but a total blast to play.

The purpose of it is to use the analog sticks and the other buttons to control a...get this...electric guitar! The music is superb, and being able to mimic it in the game, is total fun. The split-screen play can be a bit unbalanced, but it's still fun to pwn your friends.

Definetely check this game out, it's a gem.
