Eagle Scout Board of review tonight
2004-05-14, 12:55 PM #1
So in about 45 minutes I have to leave to have my board of review for eagle scout.
I am extremely nervous about this. I mean my project had 237 hours put into it and it would suck to not get the rank. If I dont get it I know that I can still be happy with what I did do but blah....
Anyway, enough with the negative. I really cant wait to be there. It is fairly exciting.
WISH ME LUCK!!!!

btw, any of you in the scouts?

If you put that much time and effort into your project, you'll be fine. But really, that's a minor part of the review, they really focus on your participation, leadership, attitude, and regard towards life. Good luck, but be yourself and be honest, and you'll do fine.

Oh (and obviously), I'm an Eagle Scout.

You should be fine. Just answer the questions they ask and be confident in yourself and it'll be cool. When they ask about your project, be sure to focus on the leadership aspect of the project as that's what it's all about [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I'm speaking from personal experience, by the way. Got Eagle in 2000

I was in cub scouts, but my parents wouldnt let me join the Boy Scouts because they were afraid it would get in the way of school work. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I am an Eagle Scout.

My board lasted an hour and a half. Way longer than it was supposed to be. Maybe I talked too much...

Edit: Too late to wish you good luck...:/

I was in the room for 30 minutes, then they deliberated for 15 minutes. After that I went in and they said congratulations. We had some cake and stuff too [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
I organized a blood drive and a CPR course which ended up with about 237 hours of volunteer work.

I got Life and then figured out there's some other things I'd rather do. My dad was an Eagle and was adamant about the ways it would help me get into college and stuff... I'm sure it does, but it hasnt really changed my life.

Good job though!

Thanks alot guys, it means alot [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Yea. Apparently I was the first person in the area to do something like this. It really was difficult to organize, but I had my troop there to help me get everything done. It ended up being very succesfull and we had about 50 people show up to donate.

Nice, I quit at Life because I was tired of getting merit badges and all I wanted to do was go backpacking, so I joined the Explorers instead.

For our troop, we stand up for the beginning and end of the meetings, once you reach eagle, you get your own chair to sit on during those parts (with some other responsibilities). Do you have something similiar?

Thats cool, what are you doing? Oh and have fun doing it!
Aaron= Our meetings are kind of laid back compared to other troops, but im not sure I get "special treatment." Probably just assume my role as JASM and help out now.

Good job on your Eagle! That's a cool project you did. I got my Eagle too, I helped start a recycling program in my home town for my project. I had 100 hours of service exactly, and I thought it was a lot -- but you had over 200 hours! Wow!

I'm going to be fixing and refurbishing an abandoned flag pole next to a church. It turns out I can get an american flag donated from one of the Navy's battleships, which raises hundreds of flags on their ship and donates them. Judging by how overrun the flag pole with trees and shrubbery, I figure I can milk out 100 hours out of that sucker. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I quit after Webelos--my troop was really...corrupt. One kid, son of the leaders, got ALL the special attention/goodies, no matter what everyone else did. It just sucked hardcore. We'd have meetings over at his house and he'd just play N64. Yah. Anyways, good job on your attaining Eagle. I always loved Webelos camp--a week of nothing but camping, archery, bb guns, and comradery. Truly good times, even if we DID prank the other troops. BUAHAHAHAH...haha...hahah...hah..ha aaaaaaaah screw it.

Only 100 hours? What a slacker [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

My project was a bridge and I had close to 400 man hours of labor. ost of that was hauling the big *** stringers (about 18 in. diameter trees that weighed at least half a ton each). It was brutal work, but it was satisfying as hell to finish. That bvride is never going to fall down.

My council has an unwritten rule that all projects should be 200+ hours. Most people get around 220.
Those projects sound awesome too.
