So I think I'm buying a new car.

Yes a new car. Many of you know about my fondness for classics (eg: my '72 Chevelle SS) but the time has come that I retire my grocery getter (the daily driver... a '91 Volvo 740 Wagon) and get something new. The Chevy Cobalt SS has caught my eye, or perhaps even the LT Sport. They're small, and FAST. 205HP stock on the SS... I configured it the way I want it and it ends up being $17685.00 MSRP. But with that wonderful "everybody gets the GM discount" I'll have to have the dealer I'm working with spell it out for me.

Anyways, the car is as follows..

2005 Cobalt SS Coupe
Ext. Arrival Blue Metallic
Int. Ebony Sport Cloth
18" Alloy wheels
2.2L Ecotec Supercharged Engine
Bucket Seats
Power windows w/ driver's express-down and passenger lockout
Front driver and right front passenger head curtain airbags
Engine block heater (w00t)
Premiums Pioneer Sound System (7 speakers with amplified sub)
AM/FM Stereo / Cassette / CD / MP3 / XM Radio
Spoiler w/ rear trim
Sport steering wheel with audio controls / cruise control
5 Speed Manual Transmission 3.58 axle ratio
Bodykit w/ foglamps

Anyways... I'm pumped. Cool assed car and it's sporty as hell... :D

you're american.

you're gonna get a manual drive car.

i salute you.

sounds sweet, although a supercharged 2.2 engine sounds a bit extreme for milling around town, maybe try something a bit smaller and economical?

Not trying to **** on your fun parade, you can always get a 220mph gas guzzling monster for other activities.

That thing IS fuel efficient... It gets around 26city and 34 highway... but if I mash it, I'll go FAST.

Besides... it could be my OTHER chevy. ;) something about driving the 454 to work (40 miles one way) makes my skin crawl.

if he's paying that much for a car, he might as well pay up the nose for gas, too

Only 18 grand...not really a whole lot to pay for a car. True it's not an econ car, but you could easily get a mustang for that pricetag. One of the new ones too, I bet.

It's really not bad fuel economy... I'd consider it an "econ" car... espeically considering what I'm used to...

I'm not a big car guy but you may also want to look at the Dodge SRT-4.

I don't think that there is anything quite like the Escort... :D

I absolutely HATE those cars. They remind me of neons that try to be fast but still aren't. I hate neons too.
