Hey all,

I just thought it was poliet to introduce myself before I started posting here so you guys would have some sort of idea who I was.

I always find these types of posts hard but I guess I should start off with where I work... I'm an IT assistant at a law firm called Borden Lainder and Gervias LLP. I'm going to school to finish my degree in computer science.

Since this is a Star Wars forum I guess I should say I really like the last Star Wars movie but my favorite and always will be is The Empire Strikes back.

My favorite video game of the moment is Guild Wars, I currently have a monk named Yummy Cookie and a Warrior named Tracy Tames in that game. My favorite FPS at the moment is Counter Strike Source although I haven't played that in some time.

My favorite operating system is Linux, I'm running Fedora Core right now as well as Windows XP for games and it is working just fine. I'd really love to have some disscussions about Linux I might go check out the tech forum after this.

It's rather late I'm in North American Eastern time, so I might get some sleep now but other than that I'd just like to say hi to everyone.

Thanks for reading this if you did and if you didn't that's ok too, just trying not to jump right into the community without the proper introduction of course.

Good luck. :(

The forums don't always look like this I SWEAR!
That painting was a gift, Todd. I'm taking it with me.

Welcome to Massassi! :)

I'm sorry to say you've caught us at a rather bad time though. The forums are undergoing some "tweaking" and it may be a while until they're back to normal (whatever the heck that is). Welcome all the same, and enjoy your stay - it will of course be permanent since I'm afraid we now possess your soul.

Welcome! :)

I do hope that you know, that by registering here, you have forfeited your soul to Brian Lozier for all eternity.

Now that that's cleared up, I'm sure that you'll enjoy all that Massassi has to offer.

Other than a few style/color error there is nothing technically wrong with the forum, like any upgrade there is always the fine tweaking I'm sure your administration staff is doing their best. They must be pretty overloaded right now, but the forums from a coding point of view are excellent in my opinion. That's typically how I analize web sites and what not. :)

Okay...I found another way to make Yummy Cookie useful. Instead of sueing Brian, I'll make YC make cookiees for him!

Thats easy. Move the teal triangle where the red triangle is, line the orange triangle with that teal triangle, line up the green triangle with the orange triangle, and put the red triangle on the top of those.

Voila.

It has one space missing because it was built to fit the red triangle where the teal triangle is, and thus it is missing one block.

And now...

Welcome to massassi!

But that's not the point. The point is that it shouldn't be possible. Right? I mean, the pieces aren't changing size or shape, so how is it that the final result can change area? Bleh.

But if you look carefully, they don't take up the same area. There are subtle differences. :p

Ha, that's actually quite simple thrawn. I can picture it in my head but it's hard to explain, so ask questions if you don't get what I say. The 1st picture has a shalow incline at first (red) thus the teal triangle increases the incline later leaving more area below them. The second picture has the greater incline first followed by the second. Hmm, this is hard to explain.

I KNOW!!! I'LL DRAW A PICTURE!!! I'll be back...

Ok, as you can see, the 1st picture has a smaller area than the second, even though all I did was flip the top 2 lines (I used copy>paste, then a 180 degree rotate to make sure I kept all proportions) Thus, the second picture must remove some area from another location. It just so happens that the exact amount of area gained from switching the triangles is equal to 1 square unit The final answer is that the pictures you posted don't change area because the top of the overall "triangle" is made up of 2 non-parallel lines which decieve the human eye.

How about choosing a new, more suitable name other than "Yummy Cookie"? The name Yummy Cookie makes me think of you as a little, hyperactive kid with half a brain (which you are not)

I chose the name based on my favorite sesame street character when I was a child, I'm 19 now but I still like to remember the time of playful inocents, I'm sure everyone can relate to that, so Yummy Cookie sticks.
