I went out a few months ago and dropped about 4 grand on a home theater. 52 inch LG Television, 650w Yamaha surround sound, and a progressive scan dvd player.
Here's the issue. The TV looks small now. The speakers are no longer loud.
I am contemplating slowly aquiring a Aperion Audio surround sound system, which is supposedly one of the best in the world, although the speakers alone will cost me about 3000 dollars. It should be loud enough. After that, though, I'll need a new reciever because 650w is not enough to push these speakers as far as they need to go. And after that I'll probably need an amp as well. God this is stupid.
Everyone else can barely stand to be in the room with the speakers screaming, but it doesn't bother me at all. I've never had my ears hurt by speakers before, and these ones, as loud as they are, don't even come close.
I can slowly start replacing the speakers with Aperion ones. The front speaker is about 350 dollars, with each successive set running about the same price... front... sides... back etc...
They also sell 12 inch subwoofers, which are supposed to be mean as hell.
Anyhow. Currently each of my sattelite speakers can push 110w. These Aperions can push 200w a piece. So counting only sattelites it's going to be a 800w sound system. The center speakers will push 150w, which puts us up to 950w, and the sub will do 400w. So in the end it would be 1350w. That seems like it would be really loud. Only problem is, each sattelite costs 300. The center speaker is 250, and the sub is 600. I'll also need a new reciever, though. One with the capability to push 1350w.
Then again, all things considered, if I do this, I might as well get 7.1 surround. So in the end it would be pushing 1750w... but I'll also need a reciever capable of 7.1. Onkyo makes one which can push 150w per channel, which isn't enough. But it's the best one. It costs 1500. Which means I'll need an amp and I don't even know how much that's going to cost, but it'll have to be at least 400w.
My god I need a therapist. This is going to be a long 6 months or so.
I am so stupid.
