Classic television shows you grew up on?

Maybe we can have a trip down memory lane?

I remember, from my childhood, I watched alot of Batman: The Animated Series. It was a great show featuring a great hero (with great style, if I could remember). I thought it had a lot of storytelling than the average BAD GUY vs GOOD GUY superhero episodes. Wow, I wish I could see that show again. :(

There was also Bill Nye (sp?) the Science Guy. Heh, I remember that was the only reason I watched PBS when I was young. Damn, I use to remember every, fun episode. There was also Inspector Gadget. That was fun too.

There are probably many other shows I loved in my youth. I wish I could remember them all.

I liked PMK but I think that was because of Elisha Cuthbert.
That painting was a gift, Todd. I'm taking it with me.

Batman, the cartoon.
2005-07-22, 1:49 PM #4
I was just looking up the Batman theme song the other day... turns out Danny Elfman wrote that too, which I didn't know before. That cartoon was awesome.

I didn't watch Bill Nye that much, saw Beakman's World more often.

I watched so much bad TV as a kid, it would take forever to list everything.

I watched so many shows when I was young I laugh at the idea of trying to list them all.

However, ones off the top of my head

ThunderCats
Pirates of the Dark Water
Ren and Stimpy
DuckTales
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers

Heh. I remember Ren & Stimpy. I don't think cartoon channels these days would dare to run such a show (I guess)

Haha, I wasn't allowed to watch Ren and Stimpy when I was a kid. My parents thought it was obscene.

Cartoons? Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life, mainly. As for live-action, Knightmare, Gladiators and the Crystal Maze for some reason.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Ya got two options; buy the DVDs or watch Cartoon Network's boomerang. Every night they show an episode of Batman: TAS and Superman: TAS. I don't remember around what time, but check between 7pm and 12 midnight central time.

Shows I grew up on:
Batman: The Animated Series
X-Men: The Animated Series
Spiderman: The Animated Series
Wild and Krazy Kids
All That!
Hey, Dude
Legends of the Hidden Temple
Salute Your Shorts
In Living Color
Superman (the live action series, it was on Nick at Nite)
I Love Lucy
Dragnet

And a ton of other shows I can't really remember...

Quoted for F***ing Truth. it was (and still is) my favourite.

You can see the shows again, as they are out on DVD. I own volumes 1 and 3 and it was worth every penny. The episodes are every bit as good as I remember (The heart of ice episode is my favourite. The "Heart of Steel 1&2" and "His silicon soul" episodes are good too, although they seem to have borrowed heavily from the terminator concept, which is not surprising as these episodes were made not long after T2)

Another favourite is the ORIGINAL Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon. I wish they had that on DVD. (I've seen some of the new series, and it just isn't the same)

The Old X-men cartoon is good too.

Did anyone ever watch that old legend of Zelda cartoon when they were a kid? it was on from 1989-1990, and only 15 episodes were made. They have the episodes online here (http://www.zeldauniverse.net/content/view/391/216/
) and although it is extremely cheesy by today's standards (the voices have that 1980s feel, Gannon looks like a green pig, and Link's sword is ridiculously short! :p ) , it is still fun to watch for nostalgia purposes. I used to watch this back when I was in Kindergarten 1n 1990.

Also, does anyone else remember watching Masked Rider and VR Troopers? (Both were similar to Power Rangers)

The original Ninja Turtles rocked, as did the original Transformers.

Astro Boy
Inspector Gadget

Reruns of X-Men and Spider-Man are actually shown on some crappy Disney cartoon channel. As well as The Tick, ahh. X-men and Spider-Man are damn good because they're deep enough that they're still entertaining when you're 20... Whereas Transformers, albeit totally awesome, isn't quite as awesome as it was when you were a kid. Most all those shows and the original Ninja Turtles cartoon were all I watched as far as cartoons...

I was hooked on M*A*S*H* reruns as a child though...

Geez, seeing some of the shows mentioned here (and remembering every single one of them) just proves how old I really am.

OMG, I remember that show. I used to wake up early just so I could watch it.

Another classic TV show that hasn't been mentioned yet is Monkey. I loved the theme song.
Rock is dead - but I believe in necrophilia.

Pretty much all of the above and Boy Meets World, Family Matters, and Step by Step.
2005-07-23, 12:22 AM #37
Cartoons: Ghostbusters, Loony Toons (mostly Wile E. Coyote vs Roadrunner), Taz-Mania, X-Men, Spiderman, Batman, The Tick, Power Rangers (not a cartoon, but so?), He-Man, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, Animaniacs.

Non-cartoons: Alf, Seinfeld, SNL (with Sandler, Mike Myers, etc..), Star Trek: TNG... thats all I got right now.

What was PMK?! Never heard of it. At least, not in its abbreviated form.

So many...

Rockos Modern Life (I need to see that show again... NOW.)
Rugrats
The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show! (Was it called that?)
Arthur

Many more, but I can't recall them.
