Free Xvid converter?

I have a bunch of xvid files, but i want to convert them to mpeg 4 or avi. Anyone know of a free program that does this? I couldnt find anything in google.

A. You do not want to convert them to MPEG-4, since mpeg is old and crappy.

B. AVI is the container for XviD... so I am not sure what you mean. XviD = AVI for all intents and purposes. You don't convert, because there is nothing TO convert.

The problem is, my video editing program doesnt support xvid, and neither does my burning software.

Maybe you don't have the right codecs?

Or if that is not the case, then you need better editing software. Premiere and Nero will do the trick :p

Mencoder can do it, as can FFMPEG.

FFMPEG is for MPEGs which sucks, don't use.

Mencoder is a pain in the arse to use.

VirtualDUB is where its at if you just want to convert to a different AVI type.

But despite this, use Adobe Premiere.

I also have the premiere demo, but it wont import my Xvid files, or the avis made with Virtual dub.
