Remember that map of everyone's locations?
2005-07-27, 7:04 PM #1
The one Spork (I think) made a couple years or so ago.

Since Google Earth, formerly Keyhole, is free now, one could easily remake that but better.

Just get zip/postal codes, use placemarks, export them as a .kmz file it uses, and upload it for people. Would be a lot easier since it does all the work of locating places for you.

Ok, build it then. ;)

I'm not doing it, lol. I was just making a suggestion because I remember someone mentioning it needing updating.

Right, but it's a massive amount of work no one really wants to do... :p

It wouldn't take *that* long to type in zip codes and put a name on them. A lot faster than putting dots on a map in photoshop.

Too bad the free version doesn't allow CSV importing, or it could be easily automated.

Google Earth may not work as well as we'd like. Unless there's a hidden feature, on this program, I'm not going to get a projection. This is what I've gathered.

Update below
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Make a folder in the places browser and add each entry into there as a placemark. Then you'll be able to export that folder as a .kmz file when done.

Then you can upload the .kmz file, and other people can open it in Google Earth. No need to take screenshots or anything, when everyone can browse through it freely with Google Earth.

Best way to do it is type in the zip code in the search bar, let it zoom in completely (you can turn zoom all the way to Fast in options and it will zoom instantly), click the add placemark button (the little pin at the bottom right), type in person's name, rinse, repeat.
