So I am addicted to an awesome song, and it's lyrics are part German, part Latin. I was able to run it through a German translator to get the basic idea, but I'm at a loss for the Latin. Here's the lyrics to the song, the parts in bold should be the Latin (if anyone wants to supply an entire translation, that's fine by me too):



And just FYI for those who don't already know, "mitternacht" is German for midnight.

I think most of the latin is meaningless...

Honestly, I have no clue what mimorox is, or hafordosola (-us). I even searched for them on google - nothing. Sorry I'm not of much help. Oniditis? Don't know.

Sounds a lot like the crossing the River Styx with Charon.

The Clock, or the time, of your death. The clouds could be the fog portrayed to float eternally above Styx, and it's the underworld, dark. Midnight.

"From Below" Underworld? Out of the night, again, underworld. A soul speaking from the fog, referencing the earlier fog and a soul of a dead person.

* = This word translates into Gondola, which are the cool-looking boats found in the dreamy Venice. This word also translates into Grief or Sorrow, or sometimes a special type of "dream/love dream" [in non-sexual ways, mind you].

(*) = I know is wrong, give me a sec to dictionary it.

[L] = Latin, harder for me to translate as I just started Latin.

[LookBelow] = This verse might be translated as someone has died, and they are being carried off on a gondola ship, and when it passes over, the undead entities/spirits go to sleep. Could be 100% wrong, just my theory.

[LiteralTranslation] = "hörst du dein Herz und die Glocken schlagen," is "hear you your heart and the Glock (those things from gradeschool made of wood you hit) hit". Because it isn't Glockenspiel, I don't think it's the musical instrument...but rather the sound it makes, a beat.

From the sounds of thing, it sounds like it's just saying it over again in Latin. I'll edit this post with the more I translate.

I think you got German-Latin mixed up though: I tried to translate the German, and some of the Latin. You analyzed my translation from German, not from Latin.

This part in 'Latin' (oniditas a mimorox, hafordosola oniditis) doesn't seem to make much sense though. Maybe it's some kind of medieval church Latin? I think it was just thrown in there for coolness/mystical effect. Then again, I'm retarded.

The Latin is full of misspellings, bad grammar, and what I think are just made-up words ("oniditas a mimorox hafordosola oniditis"???). I found these alternate lyrics, which I would guess are the correct ones:

Make it 'campanam' and it would be "The cruelty of souls sounds a bell twenty times," which may or may not make more sense.
