Some of you may remember my thread about blown out speakers and me having to replace them. ANYWAY, after the first pair died and I had to go to NewEgg and get an RMA, I went and read reviews about the set that I don't believe were up at the time I purchased them.

One of the things that people said a lot was that the set gives off a hissing sound that you can here if you're not playing any sound or anything. In my first pair, I never noticed such thing, and I actually commented in my review of the speakers. Too bad that these second pair DO hiss though, and it is somewhat annoying. They also make a low tone buzzing sound when muted (go figure).

So, I come here asking if there's anything to be done about this. Is it possible to if both sets were setup the same way that some part of the hardware make could be causing the hissing in one set but not in the other? Could it also be part of the setup, like I did something last time that I didn't do this time?

One thing that I can think of is that I got wires made from a low quality copper, so do you think replacing the speaker wires would help?

Make sure the internal volume of your computer/sound card isnt set too high- this is the number one cause of hissing in speakers.

I had a similar problem. I fixed it by setting Microphone to Mute in the volume control panel.
