Ok, I was using my computer last night, and the internet quit. This was during/after removing spyware from my computer. Now, the computer wont recognize my ethernet chord plugged into it from my DSL modem. the computer keeps giving me a message about My Local Area network getting no signal. But my adsl box checks that everything is going good, all the lights are on. So... i have no clue on whats wrong or how to fix it, any help would be great.

Unplug both your DSL modem and your router and turn off your computer. Plug both in, modem first then illuminate computer.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

when you plug an ethernet cable into your computer's ethernet port you should get either a blinking green or amber LED next to it. What color is it, and is it blinking?

So sorry for being confused here, but what does the cords look like now...Phonejack -> DSL/Modem -> Computer, or Phone Jack -> DSL/Modem -> Router -> Ethernet on Computer?

The light is a non blinking Green
Its an ethernet cable.
Unplugging and replugging in the modem and router didnt work.
How would I uninstall and reinstall the drivers?

You're on dialup on his computer, or is he running a separate DSL line?
woot!

Seperate DSL line.

I just backed up my files and reinstalled windows, that should work i think?

It's broken. It's all your fault. You should feel ashamed. Crush your computer into small chunks. Preheat the oven to 410 degrees, throw in the chunks on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour.

Wow you go to drastic measures...

I would reset the router and DSL (should be little buttons you press and hold for howevermany seconds). No one can really diagnose your problem, because it could be many things.

Even your phone jack could be a problem sometimes...we have a dual phone socket jack, and on that is the DSL and the splitter (for TiVo and the phone). If you mess that up, like putting the DSL in the splitter, that could cut it off too. Although I don't think that's the problem...point is there could be more factors involved.

You're the first one I've known to have two DSL lines..heh - they're really easy to share, y'know.. :p
woot!

Find another computer to plug into the router and see if you can see it over the network. That will narrow your possible problem area.

Yeah, or call your ISP. There could be problem on their end.
Pissed Off?

or you know... you could get a winsock fix and probably take care of the problem.

You'd be back up and running by now if you'd call your ISP. To save yourself some time, make sure you've bypassed your router, and have both your IP and MAC addresses handy.

And flibbergize the beeblegast. Don't forget to flibbergize the beeblegast. If you don't they'll just hang up on you at the ISP.
