Okay... I'm at my dad's computer, and he runs an old Windows 98 OS. Any way to password-protect folders on it?

You could make a password-protected rar/zip/whatever archive and put you pr0^H^H^H private documents in there. AFAIR rar gave the best encryption.

But with a password protected zip/archive file...doesn't it work that you can open it and see the files, you just can't access them without a password.

Thus it protects them, but with descriptive file titles you can tell what they are

Maybe do a password protected zip while creating it as a hidden file. Then just have Windows hide hidden files in explorer. I'm not sure for 98 if that'll work though

The majority of Microsoft Windows operating systems do not come with a method of password protecting your sensitive files and/or folders. If you're using Microsoft Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, you will need to download or purchase a third-party program to password protect your files and folders in Windows ...

You could just hide it in the middle of nowhere.

Use WinRAR, and make the compression type Storage, and with the password select Encrypt File Names. Then you'll need to enter the password before even seeing the list of files.

Q. How many testers does it take to change a light bulb?
A. We just noticed the room was dark; we don't actually fix the problems.
