I just bought a terabyte of storage space...

... for the low, low price of $70 CAD.

Okay, so technically it isn't a terabyte, but I figure if my 186 GB hard drive can claim to be 200 GB (yes I know why this is), then I can call this a terabyte.

Hell, I didn't even know they sold 200-packs of DVD-Rs.

A nice hot fire is better, you don't want the disks getting cold now... ;)

Either Office Depot or CompUSA (can't remember which) had 300 4x +Rs for $45 a while back.

I'm a speed whore and would only buy 8x then (wasn't any 16x then) and now I'll only buy 16x, heh.

Absolutely nothing. Similarly, shining your optical mouse or laser pointer on them will not destroy the data.

Also, speaking of terabytes, Hitatchi is supposed to have 1 TB 3.5" HDDs within a year because of that perpendicular writing method.

When it comes to things like DVD-R or CD-R I always go for quality of media over speed. I can wait the extra 4 minutes for the reassurance that my data will be there when I want it. To many times I have come back to a DVD or CD months later to find it currupt.
(NOTE: Leaving DVD's in the sun for weeks @ a time isn't good for them, dam you window sil, dam you)

yep... it've had cheap a** cd-r discs oxidize on me, (large black spots of corrosion show up on the reflective layer--- some people call this laser rot. it comes as a result of poor disc lamination during manufacturing) causing me to lose things that were irreplacable. Cheap cd recordables are only slightly more reliable than 1.44 mb floppies, and we all know how good those are....

Those are Dynex discs... If you're a non Best-Buy employee, you got ripped off. The markup on those is extrordinary. They're also not the best quality. YOu'll likely make a lot of coasters.

Yup, I always buy Fujifilm blanks, they're probably the best you can get. I got a stack of 50 DVD-Rs waiting to be used to backup my hard drives, I'm just too lazy. Maybe when I get a dual core I'll do it, as then I can be doing other stuff at the same time it's backing up. :D
<Lyme> I got Fight Club for 6.98 at walmart.

I lose DVD-Rs and CD-Rs too easily. So that's why I have 600+GB of hard drive space, to store images.
