Poor fella, he was 10 years too old to try a stunt like that. I on the other hand managed a 68 hour EQ1 marathon a few years back where I only took bathroom breaks and didn't even wuss out and take naps. My brother brought me food and drinks, and conversation is what kept me awake more than anything, also Dr. Pepper. I also slept for something like 20 hours straight afterwards, but that's neither here nor there.

I'm pretty impressed that he quit his job to persue playing games, he sure had his priorities straight.

Not to sound racist, but it seems as though Asians have a problem with MODERATION. Hasn't this happened at least a couple other times in China already?

The man who believes he can and the man who believes he can't are both right. Which are you?

I agree with Yoshi on that one.

Longest I've gone was 12 hours straight, and I was like 14 and missing a day of school sick. Didn't have anything better to do.

You might not know it but it might have taken somewhat of a toll on you. I try to never pull all nighters anymore.

Probably a cultural thing.

I think the longest gaming session I ever had was 15 hours. It was when I got Elite Force 2 for my birthday. I started playing the game starting at 6:PM that day and I kept playing until I finally completed it at 9:AM the next day. Man, I was so tired, I fell down on my bed like a ton of bricks.

10-12 hours is the most I've done, but I kept myself well fed and hydrated.
Pissed Off?

Haha, dumb *******... I mean, sure, it sucks that he died, but he was kinda asking for it as far as I'm concerned.

I mean don't these people realize that.. they are about to die?

Do you suppose he was killed in the game at the same time?

...when does he respawn?

Anybody hear from Gonk recently?

:p

I applaud this man.

But he was too old to be doing this.

:(

Longest I've gone was like, 30 hours of pure WoWness during the first stress test.

Considering this poor guy died of heart failure, there was probably a LOT more going on than simply lack of sleep. He probably had health conditions, might've been sitting in such a fashion as to restrict blood flow, etc. A 28-year-old dying because of heart failure sounds pretty unusual.

If exhaustion (lack of sleep, not physically worked to death) caused people's hearts to stop, more of us would be dead.

For three days I did three solid 12 hour gaming sessions in WoW. It was with WoW. My character was level 57 and I grinded all day until I levelled and then went immediately to sleep. Wake up and repeat until 60.

Not if you don't eat, sleep, or drink anything for 50 hours. Then it's pretty much up in the air as to what fails first--seems like it was his heart this time.

Seems like his brain failed first, then his heart.

I can't game for that long straight...rarely ever do I make it 2 hours anymore. I TRY to pull long times, like all afternoons and everything...but my parents always complained that I spent too much time playing video games a few years ago, and now I don't play much at all. I want to pull these all-nighter things, but I JUST FEEL GUILTY EVEN THOUGH I SHOULDN'T! I actually don't play many games at ALL anymore...
I had a blog. It sucked.

This coming from the same guy who accused me of having no life. Oh hypocrisy.

South Koreans die from online gaming.

North Koreans die of starvation.

Makes online gaming seem trivial.

If I had to hit the bucket, that's the way I'd want it. Any other way just seems wrong. At least he was doing what he loved...

I never claimed I did have a life. I happen to find what the man did admirable from a certain POV. Deal with it.

BAN THESE EVIL GAMES.

Is it bad enough they are corrupting our youth with hidden sex scenes unlocked by downloadable code? Now they are actually killing people.

No, he's not, and frankly I'm surprised too.

I'm not even sure that "nerd" is the word for someone who spends 50+ straight hours playing a game. Nerd isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think the word in this case is "pathetic", or "holy-****-end-your-life-now, oh wait you're going to die from exhaustion anyway."
