Think of how loud that would be. My case has 5 fans, and its almost unbearably loud.

Fans are not a proper cooling solution for me anymore. They are just too loud no matter what...and it tends to get on your nerves after hearing the same humming noise for years on end.

For my next system, I'll go for one of those super quiet cases
(See: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=11-129-127&depa=0 ) or...liquid cooling?

Bah, my case with the dishwasher fan stuck on the side still wins. Well, it wins in the "noisiest cooling system" contest.

if you want totally silent cooling solutions, try heatpipes. here's a link to a heatpipe article: http://www.tomshardware.com/hardnews/20050502_171545.html

It's just turned around, which makes it super easy to plug in peripherals.

I'd like to see him make a computer littered with USB Ports. What's the record on that anyway? I heard it was 18 or something like that. I'm sure that he'll end up EBaying it or something and making well more than what he put in to it.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I agree.

I did get a defective CPU fan once that sounded like one of those noise-makers you blow through that makes a high pitched wind up noise. I didn't use it.

The end.

I tried an approximate count and came up with a guess of around 74 also. There must be less on the back then we guessed. =P To everyone who actually clicked on the link.

Depends on the fans. In your case you're most likely just used to the noise or don't care. I changed all my fans to Panaflo L1 models, the dBa levels are barely above the audible threshold.

I didn't even look at the link, I just tried to count and guess from the pic that was posted here. Guess we were wrong eh?

i'm fairly certain it's hard disks that make all the noise, every other part of my system has been replaced with silent fans.

My computer only has 2 fans (1 case fan and 1 HSF), and it sounds like a vacume cleaner (i blame the HSF, as it the stock intel 1 that came with the machine).

sure its not your psu?!?
2005-08-12, 3:27 PM #31
Pretty sure. the PSU's nowhere near silent, but its a mouse compared to the HSF (which has been rated at 40+db)
