You only have 5 classes!? I have biology, alg 1, world history, physcal edu, philosophy, literature, and journalism. That's 7...
I don't have my report card yet, but my teacher let me see my grade for Alg 1. I was 1 point away from not getting a credit, heheh....

It was my first quarter at uni and thats what was recommended so I did. huh looking at my next quarter I got another 5 classes adding up to 17 credit hrs.

I have what is called Block Scheduling -- 4 classes in a semester (90 day period).

From memory, here were my grades from my last progress report:

I'll edit this (if anything's wrong) if I find those progress reports.

If I still had it, it would. The highest anyone's gotten with my PE teacher was a 95, and he is an Overachiever that always has perfect grades. I got an 87 average.
Here's another anecdote. The other PE teacher at my school has an EASY class, and all you have to do is bring proper clothes, and you've got an A. Would you believe someone actually FAILED?!?

Had an interesting conversation with my English teacher today. My school has a policy that, if you fail to turn in all major papers (7 this quarter), you fail. I was talking to her about a possible extension, as it's the end of the semester. She ended up telling me I
a. am the smartest kid in the entire school
b. have effectively failed her class for the quarter

How cool is that?

As and Bs this semester, except for English, which will even out to a D.

How screwed up is the American way of calculating GPA? Quality hours, attempts, earns = WTF?

The Aussie way is much better (as it usually is [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif])

Total marks for the semester:
>85% = 7 points
>75% = 6
>65% = 5
>50% = 4
<50 = 3

GPA = sum total points from all subjects and divide by number of subjects.

I won't be getting my grades for my past two classes for a while since my finals was just the other day. Here are the grades I have gotten already since the start of College at RCC:

Fall 2002:
ART-15A (Beginning Ceremics): A
CIS-1A (Computer Applications): A

Winter 2003:
CIS-5 (Beginning C++): A+

Spring 2003:
CIS-14A (Beginning JavaScript): A+

Summer 2003:
ENG-1A (English): B+

Fall 2003:
(What I think I might have)
MATH-52 (Beginning Algebra): A- or B+
3D Animation with Maya: A+ or B+ (not sure, the teacher never told use our grades EVER)

Believe it or not, it may seem like I have a lot of As here but in High School, I usually got grades from C to F and RARELY got a A or B. That was because I was a damn slacker and spent WAY too much time on the computer. Thankfully, I learned my lesson and vowed not to make that mistake again in College.

I just took my Financial Accounting final on Wednesday, so it will be at least a couple of weeks before I get my grade. Here's what I have for the year.

Code: 
Spring 2003:
E - College Algebra and Functions (took over in Summer)
A - Computer Hardware Maintenance (already took software)
B - Introduction to Database Design
C - Visual Basic I (was slacking)

Summer 2003:
B - Cisco Internetworking I
A - College Algebra and Functions

Fall 2003:
A - Introduction to C++
A - Systems Analysis and Design
B - Small Business Management
? - Financial Accounting I (was slacking, probably getting a D)


I haven't been doing that well lately. I've had a lot on my mind. My overall GPA dropped to a 2.9 last semester and although I've brought it back up to above a 3.0, I know I could do much better if I could focus.

Ditto. I didn't do an ounce of homework in 4 years of high school and rarely did work in class. I made F's, D's, and C's and only graduated because my teachers took pity on me. I cut class more than I went and didn't read a book the entire time I was in high school either. I'm not proud of any of this and I was out of school for years before I decided to give college a try. I got into computers and reading after I graduated high school and things have been going well since then. It's been rough trying to learn things in college that most people learn in high school (let that be a lesson to you slackers out there). I never thought that I'd go to college but I'm here and regret not getting ahead of the game back then.

100-80% - High Distinction
80-70% - Distinction
70-60% - Credit
60-50% - Pass
50-something - Some crap about a "Near Pass". I've no idea what that means.

Last progress report was A's across the board... I'll bw geting my report card in February. Last report carred had a ~95.5 GPA.

And how do they assign specific number grades for PE? I mean really.... Ours is just pass/fail. Don't change or refuse to participate (without reason) for 3 class times and you fail [per quarter]. We've had some people fail... it's about the easiest class in the world though.
