where do i get it. I am asking this because i realy want to explore some terragen terrains i have made. If there is a standalone program that lets me explore terragen worlds in 3d can you point it out to me too.

Terragen is a program that makes terrain pictures. To "explore" them use the camara feature.

Use Google.

You can use terragen to make skyboxes, but to create terrain in Jedi Knight is not advisable, since it works with negative space and can't cope with concave sectors, so you need to have loads of adjoins, and it's really not worth it.

It works in JO and JA though so you may wish to try that. Textures may need to be made yourself, I don't remember any way to export ground textures from Terragen...

Terragen isn't the terrain generator in JO/JA. Easygen or that other-program-I-forgot-the-name-of are.

What I meant was you can make patches in JO and JA which look quite like terrain.

Ask friend14, he is pretty much the god of terragen->jk...

Create the Terrain and explore it by moving the camera around in the terragen program.

Save the terrain as a .lwo file. Then go to www.rhino3d.com and download the evaluation program (you'll get something like 25 saves...so use them wisely). There is a poly reduction tool (play around with Rhino3d until you find it, Rhino3d is a nice little program to learn anyhow). Reduce the poly count to around 5,000. Export it as a .obj file (in the export window make sure you change where it's marked for poly curves to poly lines). Then use 3do Converter (a program found here at Massassi) and use it to convert it from .obj to .3do. For material, type in dflt.mat and use a scale factor of 1.

Then all you have to do is use the import 3do command in JED and you can then begin editing it. Work in Vertex mode if you want to manipulate the terrain. Try to limit your movements of the vericies to up and down, though.

If you have any more questions, my AIM is Friend14 (I'm almost always on...though not always at my desk. Leave a message and I'll get back to you).

You could of course print-screen it and implant the JK HUD. That always works.

Actually, you can print screen the terrain edit window in grey scale mode. Open it up in MSPaint, errase everything around the grey scale image of the terrain, then drag it up to the corner, then fix the opposing corner so it lines up with the corner of the image. Save and open with PSP, resize to 64x64 and use Hellcats program to create a terrain mesh 3do with it. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

There is a program that you can use to fly around in your terragen map, but I havn't really messed with it. Plus, it doesn't export as far as I know.

You can also import terragen worlds into blender3d and treat them as you would any other 3d model.

You will need

Ter2blend import script

Blender3d

Python 2.2.3
